What would the cutoff year be????

I want to buy a bench drill press, BUT I would like to avoid Chinese power equipment so when would be the last year for Delta, Grizzly, Even Craftsman. Thanks Dave. Oh yeah if you have any recommended ones please chime in

I'd say anything after the mid 80's will be lacking in quality and robustness. Im not sure Grizzly ever sold a drill that would qualify as "high quality", but i certainly could be wrong on that. The older craftsman, delta, atlas, buffalo, walker turner, and clausing presses will be the top of the list. Something like the DP-220 from delta would probably suit your needs.

Most power tools aren't built to last a lifetime. Not to say the quality is the same (it ain't) but even if you find something US in working condition it might be a p.i.t.a. to find replacement parts to fix it.

When did they stop making US power tools? In store(?)...late 90's I'd say probably before for the bigger brands. I'm sure there are some US manufacturers still but...they're gonna be using a lot of chinese parts and probably cost much more.

Remember that before china there was tiawan......
Some of the early tiawan stuff is **** then it got fairly decent
Then production went to china and most of it was ****....and has mostly stayed that way
