What would you do differently next time??

I am converting a little structure, was originally build to tend to cattle, so what I would do differently next time is building from scratch.

I ran surface mounted 3/4”, on a bigger shop I would use 1” conduit from the main panel up close to the ceiling all the way around placing deep 4x4” boxes in between spaced in a way that I can always run a new line from those boxes if my needs change.

Agree 100%. Wen you think you have enough lights, add more. The shop was here when I bought my house 26 years ago and I still have not gotten the water line run to it yet....

We upsized the conduit on our new building seems like we never had space in the conduit in the old shop for a new circuit and had to run another conduit run.

I would do two things differently....
1) make it larger than 28x32
2) add a shower.


It's a great garage and has the following features:
28x 32 with 12' ceilings and attic trusses for a 32x14 man cave up top
fully heated and air conditioned
great epoxy floor
has bathroom and separate utility sink in shop
2 post lift
wall of cabinets and workbenches
internet, phone and plenty of power.
Tons of lights and outlets.

I find that a shower would be extremely useful, like after doing yard work. And as everyone says, larger is always better. Wish I'd gone to 32x36.

I would insulate and drywall my garage before starting to load it up.

Now I am struggling to find the space for everything to make that happen. Plus the time and prices have not gone down.
