What would you do with this box?

Been cleaning out an old tool box that I have had since the early 1960's and came across this small Snap On 1/4" tool tray box. Would you refinish it, keep it the way it is, or sell it? If I sell it, what should I ask? Is it worth more original or restored? Suggestions please...

Well, definitely sell it. What the hell use is it to me if you don't sell it??
Actually, neat old piece. Probably different people would buy it as is versus restored.
I like slightly battered for my toolage simply because if something is perfect I will stash it away, and I'd rather have my stuff ready to use without worry that I might scratch it.
A person trying to display a perfect vintage set and not using the tools would go the other way.

I'd give it to the first guy to come along named Mickey, whoa whatda you know, I'll pm you my address.:lol_hitti

Keep it if you like, me, I'd probably sell it to a Snap-On collector which I'm not, otherwise I'd end up cleaning it up, painting it and tossing a 1/4" set in it.

3 opinions to sell...... what do you think is a fair price for something like this? If it were a car part, I would have a better idea, but with old tools, I am totally in the dark..

Elroy tells me that if that box was his, he would do any required body work, sand blast it, primer and paint. Then he would fill it with the appropriate snap-on tools or even a competitors equivalent.

Then it would get stored in the main box for duty enlistment.

We could assure you it would sell quickly as that style box has been long discontinued.

something like this:

There are lots of members on here that have been looking for a box like that one. If I were to keep it I would restore it.

I have a metal case that size that floats in my truck and the shop. I have my tweezers, forceps, needle files, picks , and other "precision" or delicate work items in it. They are all in one place and easy to grab and go.

Since no one want to hazard a guess as to its value, I will toss it to ebay and let the market decide. I might even put the original tools back into it and keep the newer stuff for myself.. thanks

toss it in the sandblast cabinet and then repaint it and fill it with 1/4" drive and put it in your glovebox of your car or truck

It looks to be a model 275, should be stamped on the back as well as the date of mfg.
They seem to be the harder model to find. I've got a round corner one like yours and the newer square corner 275A '84. See them on ebay for $50-$75. They hold a bunch of stuff & restored make a great box.
