What would you do with this?

Picked this up cheap tonight. About 24x32, top swivels 360 degrees although it's stiff. Good and sturdy, looks like WWII-50s vintage and the shelves/drawers have been cobbled on later. My first and probably best thought is to put a rubber mat on the top, build a lip on 3 sides, build some drawers and maybe put a 4" vise on one back corner and use it for tearing down chainsaws, small engines, hydraulic pumps/motors etc.

Just thought I'd throw it out there for suggestions and see if anyone comes up with an idea I like better.

I think your idea is the best one. That will make a great workstation.

The idea you have is a good one. I could see something like that working really well for working on chainsaws and other small engines. I already have a setup that I like for that sort of work, so if it were me I would probably cut the top into a 24" diameter circle and then either remove the shelves and cut holes in the top for tool handles to stick down into or modify the shelving to still fit under the round tabletop and then put things like angle grinder blades, sandpaper, etc on them. Then make several tiered layers on the worktop and use it like a large tool lasy susan right next to a commonly used work area. Fill it with hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, etc. A quick spin brings any tool right to your fingertips while working.
