Okay here are a few pics of my new to me Snap On KR562 from 1984. So before I tell you what I paid I'd like to know what you guys would have paid so I know if I did ok or not. The paint is rough, the handle is missing for the rear door as well as the Snap On emblem and side handle for pushing/pulling. Sorry for the one sideways pic, not sure why.

I would have no problem paying $200 for that box. Wished It was mine, I like the setup.

I would have paid $500 and thought that was a super deal. If I had lots of free space in the garage maybe a little more. Think the dealer wanted that box off the truck and you picked it up wholesale, those boxes were crazy expensive when new(like 4K or something) and they are over 1K on Ebay.

$400 is not a bad price at all for a Snap-on taco cart if it doesn't have any major dents or damage and all the drawers operate smoothly.

If my driver had it for that price I would have bought it even though I don't have the room or need. Probably would have spent a day scrubbing cleaning and buffing and getting it looking nice and then a few weeks later when I came to my senses I would flip it.

There are no major dents or dings. There are a couple minor dings but not bad and all of the drawers open and close smoothly. For being 33 years old it sure rolls smooth though. When he said $400 I didn't think that was too bad. In my head it is all restored and painted in the Snap On teal color. :thumbup:

Okay, I'm feeling better about my purchase now. For now I plan on keeping it, depends on how long it sits until I can start a possible restoration. I think they are a neat box. It has a nice work area and would be good with a vise on it.

Just a little tip: If you're planning on using genuine Snap-on paint, it works best sprayed over bare naked steel that's been dry sanded with 400 grit sand paper on a Porter-Cable 330.

Shoot a light tack coat, wait 5 minutes for it to flash off, shoot a second full coat, wait 5 minutes for it to flash off, and then shoot a third coat. The 5 minute flash times are at 100 degrees Fahrenheit ambient. You might need longer flash times with cooler temperatures. Make sure you have plenty of non-direct light while you're spraying.

I'd go AT LEAST $500. Anything less is a steal.

I don't know what planet you guys live on that think it's only worth $200- unless you just happen to hate this style of box.

Seeing low res pics over the web is no substitute for a physical inspection. 400 ain't bad at all. Hell a new one would be what 4,000?

Let's not forget what toolboxes are for. Organizing your tools so they're easy to find in a hurry. I was helping a friend fix his car last weekend and his tools were scattered. Ugh. Toolboxes are worth a LOT.

You bought a classic well built Snap On toolbox for less than the price of a falsely advertised Chinesium 44".

I'd say you did well.

What makes it better is the SO guy let me put it on my R.A. account. Yesterday at our company Christmas lunch the owner gave us all a $100 visa debit card. That's going to the SO guy tomorrow. So actually out of my pocket will be $300. Not too shabby.;)

Can you tell us the overall measurements on that box? Length, width, height? Also what are the drawer and cabinet depth? Thanks.
