What would you pay for this bench?

Hypothetically, if you were in the market for a good work bench, and you came across this bench(cleaned up of course), what would you think is a fair price to pay? I'm in the southwest region of the states for economical reference btw.

Dimensions are 30"Dx72"Wx34"H. The drawer dimensions are 53"Wx18"Dx4"H
All steel construction with a 3/16" top and 2" square tube legs.

I think I covered everything.

Looks like a really nice bench if it was cleaned up, albeit a bit light for more than light duty use. Id think $25-50 would buy it.

$50. I say that because that bench is solid it looks like. However, any workbench is a very personalized item that is customized to the individuals needs. Also, transportation is a concern in many peoples minds.

$50-$100 depending on how study it felt after in person inspection. The fact that the drawer has ball bearing slides makes me think the maker actually put some thought into building it. Hard to tell how sturdy it is from the pic though. Just my 2¢

EDIT: I'm rather vertically challenged myself, but the 34" height sounds a bit more like a desk for sitting than an actual standing bench. But I guess that could be a personal preference thing. :dunno:

You Cheap bastards!:lol_hitti You sound like me. 2x4/plywood benches sell on CL around here all the time for $75-$100.

Why thank you z. Yes I did put some time into it. it is very sturdy. you can open the drawer all the way packed full with nothing on the top and not worry about tipping. But it is now time to sell it and make room for a 3/8" top dedicated welding table on casters. this one has served me well and is currently a catch all due to rebuilding my wood bench at the moment.

Ah, so you are looking to sell, not buy? What drawer slides did you use? Does the drawer have any wobble to it? That seems like an awfully wide drawer. :dunno: I'd probably list it at $125-$150 expecting to take ~$100 in the end. Again dependent on what it felt like in person.

The drawer slides are rated for 100lbs each. Yes it does get in a bind if you try and close it from one corner. But you can one finger push it at the handle and it glides perfect. It also has a spring loaded thumb latch on one end. Empty the table weighs, I'm guessing, 200lbs+.

I'm hoping to get somewhere between $125-$150 for it. But I wanted to get some opinions here first so I don't end up on the CL Morons thread.

I think a hundred would be fair to the right person....

FWIW, that actually wasnt me being cheap. That was me suggesting what would be the "going rate" I see bc I thought you were trying to buy it, not sell it. To answer the question of what would I pay, <$10 bc I dont need any other benches. My 5' welding bench has a 3/8" top and is decently heavy, total cost was $30 bc I NEEDED one that weekend. 2x4 and plywood benches are free (or close to) regularly here on CList due to lack of interest and cheap lumber.

I say list it at $150. I think you'll get something close to that around here. You could easily give it a face lift before selling (rag soaked in lacquer then a couple cans of spray paint)

Thanks for the reply guys. You can't tell from the pics, but it is in good shape. the legs and drawer are painted hammered bronze and the top is rust free bare steel. Once I get my other bench in order and get this one cleaned off, I'll take some good pics and hopefully it will sell for enough that I can afford to buy some good casters for my new table.
