Is the recent spur of running jacketed cable in pipe threads lately.
If you have pipe, run some wire. It's so much easier to pull through !

They are all referring to running the NM down a straight run from truss to the receptacle or switch box. Rather easy to push the NM thru the straight section of conduit and they already have the NM and this eliminates the need for a junction box and splices, which can cause problems. I too would be doing this just for a simple run down the wall.
