Greeting from Northern Ireland.

Have been viewing (addicted) for two or three weeks now and absolutely LOVE some of the shop builds.

I restore classic british cars for motorsport use and your forum has been influential in many aspects of the workspace, etc.

So this is more of a thank you than an intro.

Pete

Welcome to GJ, Pete. You shoudl fit right in with the rest of us car restorers. Some of us have German air cooled, but there are other British car enthusiasts here too.

Before we get to far, others will ask to see pix of your classic rides and will want to know more about your motorsport addictions...

wingnut - thank you.

We compete in Classic Rallies (Navigation Rallies, not stage), Autosolo's/Gymkhana's and of course Autotests. Although the speeds dont necessarily get very high in what we do it does remain very high considering what we are asked to do.

I can go into more depth on any of the events or the ideas behind them if anyone wishes.

In the mean time, most of you will have scrolled past this drivel and got straight to the pics.

And a video of me in action

I tapped the second cone, frustration took over and the words "f**k it" were running through my head so I went for the crowd pleasing award instead

You're less Irish than I am, im an English/Northern Irish mutt

God loves a trier though :p

I love the desire for americans to believe they are irish, if you lived here, believe me, you'd wanna be back in the states, less rain, more money, bigger houses and more importantly bigger workshops and the ability to make money properly by using your head and your hands - just doesnt happen here anymore. Still waiting on finding that pot at the end of a rainbow i guess :p

Hey Pete! You pulled me out of my two weeks of lurking. I need to do a hello post myself.

My dad drove a '72 MGB till a bad pile up accident in 1989 totaled the car but dad was fine. Gosh, that was a fun car! Nobody here in Missouri drove anything like it.

Before that he drove a 70' Plymouth Duster.

Hard for me to take a liking to most boring modern cars.

i was born into classics with my parents running one of the UKs largest MG Parts suppliers (my mum still runs it to this day)

But i strayed in my boy racer years to hondas and still retain a passion for them aswell, they provide a good income if anything, young people with expendable income is a good market to sponge from.

But my heart lies in MG's an classics, retaining their classic lines and features and character but giving them a fresh and modern take under the skin

No rest for the wicked

but then the devil looks after his own ;)

Nah, been up all night, this week has been a bit mental, lost the workshop on monday, moved back to the house on tuesday, and the rest of the week was spent worrying where i was getting money to cover living from.

Hence the lack of sleep, if i had gone to bed, i wouldnt have got to sleep until about now, then not woke up until midday, lost the day work i have planned and still have a messed up sleeping pattern all week.

So stay up all night, provide her with a nice surprise before work, then get changed and get stuck in to clearing the temp workshop at my mums warehouse.

I hear ya. I'm better off staying up too late. I envy those who can nap. If I sleep in late or worse, take a nap during the day, I'm totally useless and in a foul mood.

Take care of what's important first. Enjoy the day with the wife.

I'll try, but she is at work and we're too broke to do what we had planned (a day out at a local 4x4/offroad experience place)

So i shall see hr when she returns from work, and have something nice cooked for her if she is lucky :p

I wish i could power nap, so jealous of those who can. Im in the unfortunate position where my body tells me to stop and go to sleep, and 3 days later my brain catches up. I wish to f**k i could just switch off
