Does anyone have any ideas what this plier type tool might be made for? I inherited it from my father-in-law who worked for OTC many years ago. I think it is a prototype tool of some sort.

Those look like they'd be useful in certain hose clamp applications. I could be way off base though.

Who knows, they could have pinched off a hose, removed some kind of clip.

Lots of good ideas thanks guys. The intended purpose will probably never be known if this is a prototype or custom made for some manufacturer's assembly line. I did just think of one use for them. The do work reasonably well at opening one end of the split ring on a keychain so I can add or remove a key, etc. Probably not what it was made for though.
