whats a 5hp quincy compressor worth?

A while back I got 3 QT5QCB compressors, they were on skids with 3 phase motors. They had hour meters and each had the same-ish hours (40-60), so they were like new. I used 1 right away on an 80 gallon tank I had with a bad pump, it had a 7.5hp motor and I still have that one, its runs great.
Then my brother used one as a skid pump for his 60 gallon tank, he bought a baldor 5hp motor, a pulley, magnetic starter, and belt, it also works great.

Now I am cleaning up the garages and have 1 left, I can not see ever needing it, mine runs like a top, it doesnt even get hot, best compressor I ever owned. Granted its a big monster of a unit and I run the occasional da off of it...

What do you guys think it is worth, its on a skid with a 3 phase motor, cage over the belt and a psi switch with some basic plumbing. Indoor kept, low hours, perfect paint, nice unit. They are identical to the qt5 quincys except they are are hand built with tighter clearances for less oil contamination. When my brother was converting his (he actually called a rep, where I just threw it on and called it good, they told him the exact pulley size and motor to use) the guy told him all about the compressor,, he said they are the cream of splash oiled units, any better would have to be pressure oiled, but they have too much contamination, I know I painted with mine on many occasions and never have oil issues, very clean air...

I know it cost my brother $500 for the motor, starter, pulley, and belt, but someone else will also need a tank... what should I ask for it?

It's used, at least 5-10 years old, and sold with no warranty, and has a 3 phase motor:

40-50% of the cost of a new consumer grade Quincy with a single phase motor would be pushing it, and that's if it was set up with a tank, ready to go.

Very limited market for compressors with a 3 phase motor for private use, and most commercial users don't want to deal with someone "off the street" for used equipment.

Maybe I will just make room for it somewhere, I was trying to clean up, lol. Sold 2 tool boxes VERY fast, a snap-on I had for a while for $1600 and a mac tech box for $1400, both empty, but that free'd up a lot of room. I was on a roll, lol. Also sold 2 sets of wheels and tires for $1300 (new jeep take offs and a new 2500hd sierra take offs, just sitting there waiting to get dry rotted...)

I have another compressor too, I used to use it for painting, only makes about 10cfm, has 2 small 2 cylinder pumps, 2- 1hp motors, and an air dryer, maybe I am better off getting rid of that, its on a tank and a speed aire, people like that brand, that will free up a lot of room....

I have a an air compressor setup with a brand new 5hp motor on it, but a dead compressor. You have just what I am looking for to fix my setup. Let me know what you would want for it.

I would say 750 maybe? Three phase is not common except big businesses. I would buy something like that for 300 or so with plans to repower it.

wyoming, lol, you will NOT want to ship this thing to wyoming!! Its gotta be 200lbs!!! Its huge, I compared them to the 7.5hp ingersol compressors and this is larger...

I am a big guy and can not pick it up, I use the skid steer to move it around...

Where are you located? Shipping weight for the compressor head is 140lb on Quincy's site. That includes packaging. We ship 150 lb packages from the east coast for less than $75 with our corporate accounts. Seriously, if you want to sell it, PM me a price and we can work from there.

EDIT: I an under the impression that you have just the head. If you are trying to sell the entire package, then no, I do not want to pay for that or pay to ship it anywhere, haha.

Personally think its a mistake to ship any heavy package via ground shipping as they beat the tar out of it as its handled. But, they won't take a wooden crate.

Best in my opinion? Wood crate that fits inside a cardboard box.

Post some pics of the Quincy if you can.

here she is, I took it down and unwrapped it to take a pic for another member, ITS NOT EVEN DUSTY!!! Thing is like brand new, the one I use is dusty and has over spray on it, this one is shiny and clean... I guess i could save it but honestly, I DONT ever see mine needing to be replaced, this is a lifetime compressor for someone like me, mine may be used 2 hours a week, and that may be stretching it lol.

Now that I see how many people dont mind shipping it, I am open to offers, one member has first dibs, if he doesnt want it I will let you guys know. This is the hand built version of this compressor for indoor air quality equipment, these have to blow less oil than a normal compressor, they run super clean, and are expensive, the model number shows the difference, and my brother was told these make a bit more air and last a lot longer too. I remember when I got them I was really excited, I could have bought any compressor I wanted but building one just seemed like a much better option, I have never regretted it, my pump has a l1430t motor on it and its so quiet, sounds smooth, makes a ton of air, and I change the oil once a year, I am sure it will outlast me... I know it doesnt look it in the picture, BUT ITS HUGE!!! I looked up the actual weight of the compressor alone and its 146lbs with no oil in it and no pulley on it...

I used to design heavy truck and construction equipment wiring harnesses, so I know about good zip ties, lol! It's the harbor-freight quality cheapo ones that drive me crazy - I have a couple of Panduit zip tie guns (thrown into the scrap bin at a former employer for no good reason) and they will break the cheap zip ties before they even get tight.

To the OP: Thanks for posting the picture - that is one drool-worth pump you've got there! I've got to get working on my Quincy 325 compressor (doing a conversion of the 3-phase motor to use single-phase power, google 'Steelman static phase converter').
