I been doing more handyman type stuff and honestly I thought I had a complete set of testing tools. Tick tester Pen. Clamp multimeter. Gfci tester plug. Breaker tracer with plug. Lightbulb screw to AC plug adapter. alligator clips to ac plug adapter.

im not an electrician not doing commercial not a pro

yesterday I find out about a line splitter adapter that you plug in and splits hot and neutral so you can use a clamp tester on a appliance. 🤯

now I want to know what else might exist I never heard of that im missing. The line splitter is real helpful to figure out what you can plug in and not blow the breaker. Had an issue my sister kept blowing a breaker. I tested a space heater on high mode was pulling 14 amps so that’s nearly all the juice on one bank of plugs.

That's a very clever tool that I should have invented!

I just ordered one of these, 'though:

as it does more. I especially like the 10X loop for measuring fraction amperage with a clamp that only goes down to 1 amp.

I have made something similar for 3-phase, which is just a plug and socket connected by exposed (insulated) wires.

the Klein one only has 10x loop. Which confused the **** out of me the first time I used it how the space heater was pulling 140 amps without the wall melting 😂

I guess I need to learn to read the descriptions more carefully. Still the built-in GFIC tester will be handy--better than my old method, which was to get the neighbor's irritating brat to stick a fork in the outlet.... but far less amusing.

Mostly I'd like the ammeter clamp ability for 120V to demonstrate to the kitchen staff why they can't plug three microwaves and a Cuisinart into the same 20A circuit.

this will measure and monitor current, power used in an Applicance "Kill A Watt"

I have one, but didn't buy it. It was left with us and then never picked up. Handy to see how much current something is drawing by just plugging it in. Can monitor power usage over time as well.

I do have a clamp meter/multimeter, as well as multimeter and GCFI tester and non contact voltage pen.
