Anyone have a rec on a good compact magnetic angle finder?

I have an igaging Angle Cube and it's a total pos. I generally have good luck with the MIC digital stuff, but this thing is utterly useless... not even good enough for gov't work.

For fab work - used them (see post#7) (combined with 4 jack stands and several shims) to fab 3 8x12 roof frame modules for half of a 24' square container roof - .120 wall 2" tube - came out with zero twist and diagonals within 1/32" of each other.
Got a bit heavy for an old fart working alone, hence the second pic... Steve

Issue is I place it on something and it isn't repeatable and the readings vary by quite a bit.. 5 degrees.. up/down arrow also varies.

Well out of the norm I have experienced with other cheapish digi levels/angle gauages which are usually pretty damn good.. good enough for my needs.

Thanks for the replies.

Are you looking for a stck-on that tells the angle, or a digital "two-arm" that shows the angle between the two? I have a "General" brand of the latter, and it seems to do well enough for what I need. Haven't tested it enough to know exact tolerances, but good enough when I use it.

Prefer something small and magnetic. I have a larger Mitutoyo I use for more precision machining stuff.

Just in case you haven't already discovered; I have a few iGaging products including calipers and the 2 arm "protractors" - they ALL use 2032 batteries, and NONE will still work the next time if I leave the batteries in. Might be just a characteristic of ALL the "MIC" stuff, but for the things I do (so far, anyway) it isn't worth the price of admission into the Starrett/Mitutoyo club... Steve

I know you said magnetic haha, I've been using a Mitutoyo Digital protractor (non-magnetic, nothing some velcro straps cant cure haha) and Klein 935agl. I'll pick up a Klein 935ag to have a smaller one on hand.

I also use the Wixey with the 2032 coin battery. Ive just gotten used to removing the battery before storing it.
Im very happy with the gage other than the battery drain issue.

This one holds a battery charge fine.

I will fuss with it... replace battery, reset it, etc and runs some tests.

Even my Delmhorst J-Lite moisture meter has this problem of draining the battery when not in use. I don't have this issue with my Klein 935DAGL angle gauge though.

I put lithium batteries in all of them so I know the battery is still good ten years from now and won't leak acid inside the tool.
