What's a good drill press chuck?

The HF drill press I just bought shows very, very minimal runout on the arbor (0.0005") but about 0.004" runout on the chuck and intermittently worse with something clamped IN the chuck. Worse, even cranked down as tight as I can get it, it'll let the bits spin if they get too big of a bite of the metal. I'd like to replace the chuck with something marginally better that at least runs true and clamps bits solid.

This is just a temporary tool to get me through until I finish restoring the Atlas 60- and 70-series presses I'm working on now, so I don't want to spend the big bucks for an Albrecht chuck. So I need something of reasonably quality and reasonable price. Meaning no cheap junk and nothing aerospace grade either.

The arbor has a #3 Jacobs Taper on it, so obviously that's what the chuck needs to fit. I'd prefer something in the 0" to 1/2" capacity range as I need it to work with small bits and everything I own larger than 1/2" is a Silver and Deming.

Any suggestions?

A pair of Jacobs 14N chucks are my daily drivers. They offer MUCH better grip than those cheapo farm store chucks

.004 runout at the chuck is fine for a drill press of that type.

A Rohm chuck works great for me on my one press and not expensive either, smooth and accurate.
