I have a smaller workshop (13.5'x15.5' inside wall to wall)...the previous owner used up the front longer wall and 10' of the one side wall on an L shaped 24" deep bench. He put up pegboard and makeshift shelves here and there, but there really isn't alot of storage and the workbench just becomes a place to put everything else.
I am tall / have long arms so 30" would be a better depth for me and I'd still be able to reach the backwall of pegboard. I was planning on building an 8' wide x ~35" high x 30" deep bench. I am not sure if that's going to still be big. It would leave me 48" of wall to roll a tool chest into. I also plan on building a rolling bench for outside/inside use about 30"x60" also 35" high. I will keep this in the middle of the workshop as an island, but can easily pair it up with my main workbench, the table saw, or roll it out of the way. It's small enough to tarp easily so even if I need it outside during bad weather it will be ok.
On the side wall the other half of the 'L' is on, I plan to make floor to ceiling shelves. The back wall will have a table saw and a metal band saw (for now, I may swap that out with a planer/joiner or some other wood tool). The last side wall will be my scrap wood, lawn equipment and hurricane shutters.
My large wood stock is in the rafters.
