A friend of mine's dad has a JH Williams NX-51 1" drive ratchet that he's looking to sell but isn't sure on the value of one. I've been looking around on the internet trying to find somewhere to start value wise and can't find much of a starting place, so I figured I'd turn to the experts on here for some help! The picture I have attached isn't the ratchet that's for sale, but his is in a little nicer shape I'm told. Any help with a value on this would be greatly appreciated. He asked me what I thought it was worth and I just want to make sure to get him a fair price for it. Thanks in advance!

Big stuff is expensive new, but not worth a lot used unless you find a guy who really needs it. If he wants it gone, it should move for $50. Not saying a guy who uses 1" drive wouldn't pay more, try and find him. I'm talking in terms of CL. EBay could bring bigger bucks. A guy a few towns over has a new USA Williams 3/4" complete set for $300 for over a year on CL.

Just to add, I bought a brand new Armstrong 1" ratchet for $30 because that was too cheap to pass up, even though I have no real use for it.

Ok, you have an old 1" ratchet in nice shape. Problem is they don't necessarily sell well. The first thing to check is to pull the plate off to expose the gears. If the gears are in nice shape, no tips sheared off, the ratchet has value. I would clean, take a pic and then lube and reassemble. If at that point the mechanism ratchets smoothly, you have something to sell. In my store, I would have that at $60 to maybe $70 and the first $50 would take it.

The good,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,not many 1 inch ratchets hit the market.

The bad,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, not many folks need one.

I do well with large tools but I have a lot of truck and equipment mechanics come through my shop. A one inch ratchet may sit for a year or more before selling for me but they will sell.

I would give you 50$ for it, just because I think it is pretty cool.

I paid $35 for mine on ebay, and $18 shipping. I'd pay that again, if it is in better shape than the one in the picture.
