Mornin!

I had 2 different plumbing outfits out this mornin for shop estimates and I don't want to get hosed (grin).

#1 gets $75.00/hr, 1 plumber and 1 helper, 20 margin on parts.

#2 gets $100/hr, 2 journeymen, NO margin on parts (yea, right!)

It's pretty much a cake job. Toilet and ped lav upstairs along with bar sink. Both backed up to same exterior wall. Directly below is Dbl bowl shop sink. Drain and supply line already in slab and out under foundation. I'm gonna use my hoe and dig the 30' to the house basement wall where both lines are exposed inside. full basement with plenty of room and drop.

Do these prices sound about right? What are you guys paying? To be relative it cost me $45.00/ft to have the shop built with finished exterior.

you can't get a firm price for the whole job?
i had :
50' gas line (interior) for garage furnace and upstairs fireplace.
rough in plumbing for upstairs double bowl vanity, shower, jacuzzi and toilet.
tied into existing, above floor cleanout in the garage.
material supplied by plumber.
he's a friend of the family. he told me he normally charges $500.00 per fixture.
which would have been $2500.00. he charged me $2000.00.

Yes in new I charge 101.00 per hr per Mechanic, but I quote most residential jobs due to past experience with disputes and I get money up front.

I suggest you get a quote for the job with a scope work so there is not problems or find a local small guy who is willing for you to help him.

Thanks!

I talked to the inspector and he advised me to do it myself(!). He is coming over on Sat. to help me do the layout and make a materials list.

I've done some pretty extensive work with PVC in the past, so I'll give it a shot. If I run into questions I'll holler and at least this way I'll have all the materials onsite and paid for!
