That's an awesome box! If I were closer, I'd have it loaded and you would have my cash. Hard to say what it's worth, as they're only "worth" what someone is willing to pay. Peruse local ads and see. Around here, maybe 250-300.

Bob said what i was thinking.

But we dont know the real shape of it. Size, and condition/keys to.
But flying blind with what i see, atleast $200 for the base, and $100-$150 with matching top.
But top dollar would be around $450, for someone in love with Waterloo's. No matter what, it's cl, firm means a little budge room for most.

*Atleast around here.*

great looking box(es). not sure what the market is for the Midwest, but i'd start at $300-400 and see if you find somebody that needs that exact design. of course on Craigs it's hard to find the right buyer at the right time, but even though I own 4 similar boxes to yours i'd hand you $200 tomorrow if you lived close and wanted it gone. want to come see the sights in Seattle anytime soon??

best of luck

Bottom measures 26x18
Top is 26x15

Top has removable tool caddy
2 keys
Overall great shape

Hate to see it go but I need more room and have been looking for a matching era waterloo box to add to it for over 2years local and have came up empty handed

Yeah, I'd say it's in the ballpark at 2-300. You could always ask 4, and get 350. I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but that's my experience on selling boxes. If it's out there long enough, you would probably get the one person who HAS to have it and get 400.
Can I ask WHY you want to change it out?

Basically out grew it. Have tools scattered throughout garage. I was hoping to be in the 450-500$ range but I might have been hoping for too much.

I'd probably end up keeping it for less then that and just adding one HF 44 to it.

That's a nice set. It's a shame that you can't just add one 44" or 56' HF next to it and work from there.

I'd hate to see it go.

I really like Waterloo boxes. My dad has a big one...maybe 52"...very nice box. I know others don't share my feelings on them, but the older ones are the best. I would say ask $250 and take $200. There's lots of single bank stackers out there since HF came out with their line of boxes. If you go any higher people will opt out and get a new 44" from HF. Just the reality of things these days.

I'll bet you WILL regret selling it at some later date. Find a happy place in basement once you get your 44" stack of US General or 56" to handle your tool storage needs.

That sweet Waterloo would be a great first tool box for your son !! ;)

Nice box. It is stamped date of birth on the bottom frame rail of the bottom box and in the top compartment of the top box. Can you take a picture of the drawer slides? Do they have little black clips on them? I'm not sure if that is the newer or older version of the box. I have a similar bottom box. It is a decent box, but not all that heavily built. Selling is going to be hard to say. Personally I'd keep it if I was you. I highly doubt that you will get $400-$500 out of it. More like $250-$375 if that. The problem you face is the competition for the HF44" bottom at ~$375. And waterloo is not a very well known brand to the masses. Additionally the HF 27" box at ~$325 is another competitor, while it is not USA made, it is quite a bit sturdier than that box, the drawers are ball bearing and it is brand new.

To get top dollar, make sure you have the keys and all drawers are lined with drawer liner. Quite honestly if given the choice between that and the HF44", I'd pick the HF.

depending on your local market, start at 300 and be ready to go down to 200. I would start 100 above what I had to have for it and drop the price as needed. Most people don't know the Waterloo name........

A nice older box like that, IMHO, what you're going to get out of it isn't worth selling it for. I'd try like heck to make a spot for it. That's the kind of box that you hand down to a son or grandson, even a good son in law and keep in the family.

There's more than one level of "Waterloo" quality. In addition, they made boxes for a dozen different brands and those vary as well. I have a NAPA-branded Waterloo top chest that's every bit as heavy and well-made and as durable as any of the six or eight Snap-on boxes I own, maybe more so.

I also have a Waterloo three-drawer mid-chest which is only average in quality.

I have a Waterloo 700 roller dated 1987. My date stamp is on the lower right front, bottom of the frame, near the caster. Yours is much better than mine, even though mine's from 1987 and made in the USA. I _thought_ I was getting one as nice as yours but as an earlier poster mentioned, not all Waterloos are made alike. Would love to have your setup.

Glad to help . The ones in 1978 (till the early 80s in fact) are much nicer than what came later. My 1987 one is still pretty good but not like yours.

Do the drawer slides have long black clips on the end of them?

IMHO, that's one of the best features of the Waterloo boxes. Remove the easily accessible clip and the drawers and slides just pop right out.

Much easier than the difficult to manipulate Snap-on catches or the impossible to manipulate Huot catches.

Yea, agree, the kennedy ones are even better IMHO. I was just curious if the OP's box had those. That was around the turning point between those and the later channel built in, bent sheet metal stop.

From my personal experience with these, they are a step above a low-end Craftsman(maybe), but nowhere close to the quality of a Snap-ON, etc. The government buys(or used to, anyway) a lot of them because they are cheap. Most of the ones I've seen are pretty beat. We still have a few in our shops. I guess it really depends on how well this one was cared for. I don't think I'd pay more than a hundred for one, personally, but if one was given to me, I'd definitely fill it with tools ;)

I agree, keep it if you can. Waterloo will not command big money because young techs won't know the name. If you can get $300 to $350, you will be doing good. Make sure to wipe them down and take good pics, especially a pic from the side with the drawers sticking out like a pyramid. That is the money shot.
