Who makes a box that has good quality, price, value. I know, I know, Snap-On boxes are one of the best, but the value isn't there unless you get trade-in for old box, and massive discounts. Craftsman's pretty much out of question; I have one pretty damn flimsy, and cost more than others. I have 5 drawer US General service cart $299, got it for $150. In my opinion thats value because 14 gauge steel, powdercoated. Next year, I want to get a larger professional box; looking at the US General 56" for $799. I really like the stainless steel Viper boxes also. What do you guys think. Please no Snap-On or Craftsman, theyre out of the question for now.

With craftsman, it depends on the level of the box if it is flimsy or not. The higher grade boxes are pretty well made. If you are comparing their basic and ball bearing line, they are pretty thin. The grip latch are allot better made. But they are pretty expensive. And their pro grade are even more expensive.

But for value, and good quality. You pretty much answered your own question. If you were will to spend a more a MAC box is very nice and allot better made then the General box.

You will not find a box that has the feature of the general for that price. They crank them out by the boat loads from china. And the Chinese have gotten very good at making a decent box. But the newer shiny boxes from reports are not as strong as the older ones. But still pretty strong.

two of the 44" boxes are still less storage than one 56" box.

looks like the price of the 56" box changed. $799 was the full retail price, and people were getting them for about $650 on sale i think. now the full retail price is $1000!!! $799 on sale

the 44" full price is $599, has it been this as of lately?

+1 for Homak, good box for the buck. That's what I would get, unfortunately they don't have a 56" in a layout I like so I think I'll be going with Extreme Tools.

Best bang for the a box is hand down USED SNAP ON. It takes time, but a good number of boxes come up and there are steals. Used Mac and Matco are also options, but I would look for boxes in good functional shape, their warranties seem to be weak where as SO is very good. What would look better in your garage, a ten year old SO or a new chicom POS. One other option are Proto boxes, basically the same as a Mac. I want to say the site is Betty Mills, but I sure there are others, have some great prices on these boxes.

Around my area used tool boxes go for more then new (at least it feels that way 99% of the time). Some of our members like the Montezuma boxes very much,at least that is what I am hearing on other posts.
