The ratchet I use depends on the job. For most things, my go to ratchet is a SO F80. Its so smooth! Next would be the Armstrong 88. IMO, its not as smooth as the F80 and has thinner sound, but still great. If I am doing something that doesn't require a lot grease or it is cold out, I will use my Matco hardhandled 60 tooth (prior to the 88.) In many ways, I like the 60 to the 88.....seems to move faster but get nasty super fast. I also have 60 tooth hardhandled Matco 60 tooth long handle for tough things. If I am doing oil changes or things where I tend to drop the ratchet, I use a Matco 36 tooth (going to make that 60 tooth as well.) I love the handle but hate how coarse the teeth are. So I don't mind if it get scratched. I also have a set of RP that came with a set.
1/4 I love my new SK long handle for things that have lots of room....the round head makes it easy to hold. I also have a Matco 88, which probably my best all round 1/4....not so much a fan of the SO T72 (little on).....its the opposite of 3/8.
1/2 I use a long handled Armstrong 36 tooth for most things, but my favorite is a Williams 36 tooth standard I got off of ebay for $12....smoothest 36 I have.
This pic. is very old and is missing both the Armstrong 88 and the long-handled 1/2 but you will get the idea!
