What's going on with SK Tools these days?

Why wouldn't they show up?
Y'all should go to Lola's (assuming you like Cajun food). The original location appears to be temporarily closed (might be open in Nov), but there is a location about 20 min. from the Strip. Righteous food - highly recommend the grilled oysters and the bronzed catfish & grits.

I ordered a 1/2" SK wobble and a 15" extension from an online retailer claiming that they had them "in stock". The wobble shipped right away. The extension did not. I contacted the retailer and they said it would be available on 8/20, and would I like to wait? I'm not holding my breath, but I've only got $30 wrapped up in this wait and see, so I said sure.... let's wait and see. I'm generally curious if any movement happens and what shows up.
Honestly, it makes more sense for SK to sell their products via 3rd parties before stocking/manning their own website. Few people go to SK's website. Lots of folks visit Amazon and what not.
Finally, the "It's owned by China" commenters here can take a hike. Just go away. You're posers with no dog in this race. In the last 3-5 years, my shop has thousands if not tens of thousands invested in SK. As Jerry Garcia sang: "Please don't dominate the rap, Jack, If you' ve got nothing new to say. If you please, go back up the track.... This train's got to run today"

SK should make heavy-duty, chrome steel forks.

For the guys that can swing by the booth, let us know if the stuff looks similar or not to the Ideal SK stuff. I’m curious if SK brought the old tooling to the new plant or if they have literally started from scratch.

Sk and shopvac had a "tent sale" in Wiliamsport this past weekend. It was lots of fun. The staff was in good spirits and very helpful. I got to peek in the Windows of the building and saw a few rows of nice fabrication tools (mills, welders etc. cool stuff)
I'm happy the Williamsport facility is running.
the prices at the tent sale were too good to resist, I think this was about $60.

Before there was any word of Ideal selling SK, I was concerned about SK’s health when I picked up these wrenches. It wasnt very long after this, they announced the sale. Looking back, I wish I had stocked up. A reputable liquidator had received a sizable lot of misc SK tools, sockets, line/combo/dbe wrenches, pliers, ratchets, etc, and was selling them cheap. They didnt last long.
I havent had the heart to peel the stickers off and use them.

The SK website is back online, a lot of the sets are listed as put of stock, but most items seem to be able to be ordered individually right now.

I'm glad they are making a go of it again. But I do think it's funny that the holidays are what are going to be causing shipping delays - pretty sure their shipping delays have been going on long enough that it's just normal shipping speed now.

I am more concerned with what is being still being produced and what is selling off old stock. I want to make sure whatever I order is replaceable in the future.

I think that's the exact reason to be concerned. We have different expectations for tools bought from the dollar bin at AutoZone compared to tool truck brands. Nobody wants to pay tool truck prices and get dollar bin tools. Even if there is a lifetime warranty. Right now, SK seems to be an unknown.

Again, unless you are abusing the tools, how often do you break them?
And even if they stopped making them, a replacement is easy enough to find and cheap enough to replace it. Half of my tools I use regularly are from an out-of-business company and I have never worried for a minute about the tool(s) failing.....let alone replacing it.
You folks are getting paranoid over warranties for nothing......

I use tools for a living, broken tools happen, and ones that don't break can and do wear out.
It isn't even the worry that they might go out of business, it is more about what of the current catalog are they going to continue to produce e and support going forward. SK doesn't have a truck where they can swap out a busted screw driver shank, they have to swap the while thing if they stop supporting the current line up, that can put you SOL for a worn out tip if the replacement is a new ha dle design that doesn't work for you.
I've had several issues with specific pliers I use to certain jobs breaking and no longer being available, which has caused me to have to completely change the way I do jobs, or buying up as many examples as I can find on ebay.
Line wrenches are another tool where continuing support is important, a well designed line wrench will save your ***, a bad one with dig you deeper into that hole, if they change the design to something worse, that new replacement just made your life worse.

Said it before, but I just don’t get the infatuation and fixation on warranty I see on this forum. That’s not to say I have never used a warrant on a tool, but rather it has zero consideration in my purchase decioion.
