I have a "junk drawer" in my tool box that has a little bit of objects that dont categorize with all my other tools. I keep and pen and paper, finger nail clippers, lighters, grease and paint pens, spare change (for the snack machine), and a yoyo (for when work is slow). whats in yours?

Bunch of bolts, springs, a few fuses, orphan keys, there maybe a few pushrods. It's always surprising the treasures I find in there. That drawer got me out of quite a few binds

Everything! washers, bolts, self tapping screws of all sizes, springs, spacers..left over from whatever, shims, o-rings, gaskets. gasket material. sandpaper.. Small clips, junk sockets that i use to press out u-joints. odd screws. The components to make a specialty tool. A good "junk drawer" gets better with time! :D

Wheres the pictures? I would post a picture but it's hard enough posting on my cell. My junk drawer catches all my snap on and mac tool receipts, pay stubs, change, pens, whatever I throw in there.

I think daily about either buying a reasonably priced additional box or some sort of cabinet/locker for "junk" I had a cabinet at my last shop, when I changed jobs I tried to scale down most of the test parts and stuff and start over :)

I have some trays I screwed to the side of my box I just decided that they need to be emptied. They are not eating much at the moment but its back to the 99.9 principle again, the stuff could reside in a 5 gallon bucket out of the way just as easily. I actually make diligent effort to rid the place of a lot of that stuff, I find out I have places I can sort it to, some goes in dump. Its absolutely not much good if it cant be found. I actually spend about a week a year on that.

I hate the 5 gal bucket of junk routine (Unless I'm digging at a yard sale... Found some really good things that way) I have most of my leftover/spare parts stuff sorted and where I can find it, like to like. I have ONE 3X5 card file drawer for collecting the fasteners, and other small bits of whatever that I simply don't have time to deal with at the moment, and when it gets full, it gets dumped and sorted; (Keep junk or "Hey I was looking for that!") , and I start again.

What kills me is the larger stuff that simply didn't get put away or doesn't have a home...:dunno: Working on that in a big way now the shed is completed, if not 100% painted...

I have a couple of big junk drawers, one a whole basement and another 1500 sq dt of shelves in a buiilding. **** too good to toss but do not want in my shop. I am really fussy about clearing out the un used, left over stuff that never seems to go away.

I have a few junk draws between 3 boxes. One is nothing but random nuts, bolts, washers, fittings etc., my main junk drawer has about 2 dozen different lengths and sizes of fuel and coolant hose (always shorter than what I need!), extra tool pouches/socket rails and clips, novelties, beer koozies, electrical wire, a bunch of sand paper, spare/extra/old tools. My last junk drawer in all loaner/free/Chinese junk tools. Just about all of this could be put in a box on a shelf if I ever need the space for worthy things like tools lol.
