My tote is getting way to heavy and its a catch all for everything. I use mine around the house for projects. Curious to see what everyone thinks are the must haves for a homeowner's tool tote. Feel free to post pictures

I have a couple, one in the house and one in the garage.
Both are empty, I load them with whatever I need for what I'm doing at the time.

I had the same problem, so I picked up a 5-drawer tool cart from HF to put my "must used tools around the house" in. When I have a job, I'll throw the tools I think i might need into the bag then go. No need to dig through 25 tools I don't need to find that one I do at the bottom of the bag.

These are mine but I must have tools scattered everywhere because they look empty.

It's going to vary based on what you work on. Ideally, you'll have a bag for every type of project, electrical is in one bag, plumbing in another, etc...

What I do is every few months I reevaluate what I have in my bag and remove what I haven't used a lot. My bag tends to fluctuate in weight because of buying and removing tools. It's pretty noticeable to lose even a few ounces of weight so eliminate what you can into another bag...but if you find yourself having to grab that bag a lot, then you will need to reevaluate what you have in your bag again. A few extra ounces isn't worth an extra trip walking to and from your truck every other day.

I have one at work, and several at home. The current job I am working on is installing office furniture. Being a carpenter, and used to wearing a tool belt, carrying a tote from room to room was a nice change of pace. That tote has a drill, several drill bits, a glazier bar, a 1/4" socket set, a tape measure and a utility knife. Also, a pls laser and some other odds and ends.
At home, I have a tote of electrical tools, one of plumbing tools, and a whole box of other tools. I built a tool tote/stool(gary katz design) and thats what I fill up fro odds and ends in the house. Whether it be painting, trim etc.
