What's it take to get this stuff clean?

I was doing a little spring cleaning this afternoon. I had been constantly sweeping the plastic tile floor since installing it in October 2012. But today, I finally busted out a mop and bucket. Still dirty!

I mopped it 3 times, first with ammonia in the water, then degreaser. Here is a pic of where I did an oil change a week ago- note an extra unused tile for reference. I dribbled some, of course, but promptly wiped it up.

After mopping it, I sprayed degreaser on it directly and scrubbed with a rag. Still looks like ****!

One oil change ruins this stuff ?!?! That's the only thing I did there.

Is there an EASY way to get this stuff clean or am I correct in thinking this stuff only looks good for a week or 2?

I have always been a fan of simple green. I know Race Deck has their own branded product as well that people have been pretty happy with.

For the record, that flooring is "not" RaceDeck, it's a knock-off.

Not knowing what it's made out of ( additives, fillers, foaming agents, et) I'm not sure if our commercial cleaners will clean it, I'm happy to send you a bottle to try.

Right. I used it on my engine bay. My garage smelled like simple green for a couple of days.

I may or may not have sprayed some in the air a couple of times just because I like the smell of it

Use Simple Green on mine, also(though it's NOT Racedeck, either......)

sometimes heavy grease needs to be cut with something like wd40 then clean with simple green or purple power

Correct- it's Modutile (USA Made, at least). It has a very rough surface texture. While the wet traction is superb, the rough surface holds oil and fine dust making it damn near impossible to clean.

I'd like to try your cleaner- thanks. how do I get some?

Every product has its inherent downside. Solid garage floor tiles need to be kept clean, and a lot of the 'cheaper' ones are tougher to do that with. As has been illustrated in a separate thread by a customer 'brand x' had a textured surface which contributes to the issue. Some foreign made products, and now even some US made products also use cheap fillers, reduced times in the mold and other issues that make the product harder to clean.

Ribbed garage tiles, always leave you with the appearance of a clean garage floor. The average consumer thinks they are harder to clean, but the reality is they are much much easier. Products like ours, that are 3/4" thick and have a channel system on the underside work incredibly well.

As an interesting side note, I can install black ribbed tiles in a south facing garage and leave the door open without issue. They expand and contract within each tile where solid tiles tend to expand and contract up to 1/32nd of an inch each.

NOW. All that said, if I were opening a mechanic shop, I would do epoxy because I would expect it to be cleaned daily AND I would do the necessary floor prep
