I need to help my Dad free up some cash and he has a lathe and shaper to sell. I'm not really sure what I'm looking at, but it's supposed to all be there and in working order. The shaper says 1985 on the manual and the lathe is supposed to have a live center. What's fair for these items? What info do I need to know to properly sell these. I'm just not well versed on either one. Thanks!

It's a Craftsman metal lathe which could go for $250-500 and a Delta wood shaper usually sells for $125-250.

The higher prices would reflect tooling included.

To get top dollar, getting them cleaned up, more and better photographs, detailed descriptions are a plus.

Where are you located? Shot in the dark, but if you are anywhere near me, I would be interested in the lathe.

Is the shaper a router table/spindle moulder affair?

Basically yes, wood shapers are or were a heavy duty router table typically powered by a spindle driven via belt and separate motor. In the recent decade(s) with self contained routers becoming cheaper and more powerful, full size shapers are seldom seen in the small shop. For a production shop or for someone that makes custom pieces, a good sized shaper still wins.

NE Ohio, 44333

The shaper supposedly has recently had the deck resurfaced too. Will have to do some digging and see what else I can find.
