You asked...Tupac, Metallica, Barry Manilow, James Taylor, Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Rogers, Eve 6, Edwin McCain, Blink 182, Bone Thugs n Harmony, Phil Collins, Boyz 2 Men, Dan Fogelberg, Guns N Roses, Pink Floyd and Journey just to name a few. Gangsta rap, metal, easy listening, classical, 80's, disco, punk, etc. I see value in all forms of musical expression and enjoy taking something from every style.

Anything Dead and Company. For you guys that like Stevie Ray or just a bad *** blues guitar type stuff give them a listen. Original Grateful Dead members plus the former Allman brothers bassist and John Mayor who is IMO one of the top 5 guitarists of all time.

Grunge rock, 90's alternative, smells like the 90's. I have a small portable speaker that I have been using while building my garage, I hook it up to my ipod and listen to Pandora. Sometimes I just enjoy the peace and quiet but most often I like the distraction of a good Bush or Pearl Jam tune.

I've had the Grateful Dead and Dead and Co. on constant rotation as of late. You are right, John Mayer is an amazing guitarist, which you don't get listening to his pop music.

I have a PC in my garage hooked up to the stereo. I usually just go to YouTube and put in a song I like and just let it "autoplay".

Nothing makes my day more than hearing a new song I have never heard before that blows me away. Add to that, if I explore that artist and find out that they are awesome.

I used to let pandora do my "musical wandering", but the free version plays too many commercials, and repeats the same songs too often. With youtube and AdBlock, there's no commercials at all.

But I usually blast euro symphonic metal or 90s gangsta rap, lol.

Well it's going on year 9 since I began assembling a 'garage mix' playlist on Spotify. The criteria is: Must be about cars. (ok, a few airplanes and motorcycles have crept in) Its not limited to musical era, style, or category. It's not about 'driving soundtrack,' its about driving, working on, enjoying, or musing on cars and their relationship to life.
At this point, it is over 18 hours long* and the pace of new additions has slowed to 2-3 per year. So please let me know if you know anything that should be on there!

*Yes that includes some redundancies where there are great covers. So of course it features 'Roadrunner' by Jonathan Richman, but also the cover by Joan Jett. Same with Vincent Black Lightning, and Hot Rod Lincoln.
