Sorry, I should have probably mentioned. It is an empty crawlspace (under a set of stairs) behind that wall. So this setup might be a bit harder to implement in a regular garage. I plan on cutting another opening to the right of it sometime soon to store my RhinoRamps.

That's a great idea! One item to note on this is that if that is an attached garage and the crawl space is on the house side, you may have compromised the integrity of the fire-wall. Most building codes require a rated separation wall between a garage and living space. It could become an issue if you plan to sell the house and a home inspection is done. (Although I'm sure you're going to bring the bins with when you move) either way, smart way to take advantage of "dead space"!

Oh man, I like the keyhole idea...mine are clamped in at a 45º angle. great for using some otherwise unused space; but terrible for portability.

The one thing that has begun to bug me (almost 2.5 years after doing this) is that some of the ties that have been in there the longest are beginning to show their exposure to UV light (cheaper ties especially tend to get brittle after prolonged exposure, just the nature of the particular plastic). Eventually I'd like to put a similar solution inside an enclosed cabinet; would eliminate the first-order retrievability concept of it, but might help them last a little longer.

Black tie wraps hold up well in the UV light, It's the other colors that don't, as far as I understand it and from my experience. With this set up in this pic, if you got another PVC end cap and laid it over the exposed tie wraps you can block the sun. Cap both ends. :D

Cheers

Yes... that is certainly doable.. I'll get some caps and adapt / snap some shots!

I could see me trying to explain to the wife that the other end of the box sticking thru the wall in the bedroom is actually a new night stand!

Great idea if space permits!

Ikea roll front cabinets.
Like small garages, inside a garage.

Man those are expensive! I thought it would be a cool idea to build a cabinet to house my tv, and use a roll up door when I want to use it, but I can't find a door for a reasonable price. Saw dust and tv's don't go well together.

I can tell you a story about a squirrel, a four car garage , and paint stored on a rack like this- it ended quite badly. The sqirrel knocked over a paint can and when the refrigerator fan turned on- the four car garage and home were toast. Do not store any flamable conainers more than 3 feet above the floor. If accidently knocked off they pose a fire hazzard when any spark is available.

A bit old of a post... But i guess that rules out my idea of storing paint in the attic?

Here was my solution to ladder storage. I also used to have this above my garage door, but at my new house I had the doors tucked as close to the ceiling as possible so I had to relocate my ladders ahead of the garage door.

Is that home made , welded together or do they sell that mount?

Here's a new Dewalt charger bracket I made and a gang charger for the new tools at work.
you better have some legal work done on those or you just made someone else rich.

super. mold them out of plastic and sell for 9.99. will be a hit.

Here is a nice simple solution to get my welding helmet off of the counters in the shop.

Works pretty good and cost nothing... the kind of project I like.

I was a bit concerned that I'd throw so much stuff up in the attic above my garage, I wouldn't realise how much weight had accumulated up there until the ceiling caved in on my head.

So I thought that attaching the shelving to the walls would help limit the weight on the floor/ceiling.

Designed around 50 litre plastic storage tubs (with 90 litre tubs on the bottom), this holds 24 of them...

I've got my 80 gallon compressor in a "closet". There's just a little bit of a gap at the bottom but it works just fine. I watch the heat though. If it gets too high I open the door and turn on the fan I installed above the compressor.

For this one I wouldn't think that there would be a lack of air. If you leave the doors shut you might get some heat buildup. If it becomes an issue bore some holes in the side of the cabinet down low. Installing some furnace vents will help keep most of the mice/bugs out. ...and if you leave the door shut it will be much less noisy.

Nicely done.

+1 for the ventilation idea in there.

You can get some cheap cold air return grates on amazon.

The nerd in me would pick up something like this; rig it on a thermostat so that it'd come on when the cabinet temp rose above a threshold and shut itself off when it dropped down again. but you could easily rig something similar with any number of other fans. I'd just prefer to cut the 19x3.5" hole and be done :)

I also have a lift to storage my snowblower on in the summer... didn't have a pic of that.
:dunno:
Do you use one or two winches for up and down?
Can you eventually show a picture or drawing?
