Alright, I don't like to bug, and I completely understand if whoever is in charge of this forum is busy. That said, the forum community has for the most part unanimously requested a few simple changes and additions, including but not limited to: a fabrication section, a how to section, etc. I'm sure we could think of a few useful additions if we knew there was any chance that they would be carried through. I am a moderator and an administrator on multiple different forums, and I have made a few forums as well. I know for a fact that this could be done in less than five minutes with minimal effort. I hate forums with too many sections, but a few more sections or sub sections would be useful. If any help is needed shoot me a private message and I would be happy to do it.

It's probably not my place to comment, but real life often gets in the way of online activities. I "own" one Yahoo group, and it takes enough of my time just keeping the spammers out of it. I also have a full-time job (as in 24/7), a wife, three kids and a mortgage.

Another thing to consider is that DIY and fab may not be within the primary focus of this board. I do all of my own work, as I'm sure many others here do, but I suspect there are lots of people here that don't. I'm sure that many consider a "garage" as a place to park their collector vehicles, and are looking for ideas on how to decorate it rather than actually work in it.

That being said, I think this is a great forum and I enjoy the discussions. Lots of opportunities to wander off-topic without getting smacked for it. ;)

I, too, maintain a large and active forum as well as manage an opensource code project while living with real world obligations to wife, two young children, ongoing home renovations doing all the work myself and working fulltime...so I understand that time for forum maintenance/development can come at a premium.

Having said that, though...every time a new section is proposed (I suggested a section on storage solutions which is certainly very pertinent to the forum's theme) a LONG time back. After many positive replies in support, we were told "We'll see what kind of response this gets" followed by some more positive replies...then nothing. It was at that point that he said "Garagejournal month" was coming soon. What was that...7 or 8 months ago now?

It doesn't take a helluva lot of time to consider the merits of a new area and either create it or post a comment as to why you aren't creating it.

I'm with Octane...it would be nice to have the suggestions acknowledged, and perhaps some action taken on the good ones. In the meantime, I'll go on back to the corner of the ignored...

All in all, you have to admit that this board is run pretty cleanly. I definitely appreciate how quickly the spam gets taken care of.

I can understand if the focus for this board is the shop itself and that if too many things get added on it sort of loses focus. Too many things for too many people and you just end up with a mess. But better to just address that issue than to say "it will be looked into later" and later never comes.

I agree 1320stang, the Atomic Network in the conections tab. I haven't looked around there much, but as I'm learning, I'm sure I'll have a need.

I think the lack of advertizing is awsome.

You guys are right... I have totally sucked lately... I'm just smoking busy with my day job and haven't had time to collect feedback and requests... I'm hoping after June that I will have time to do so...
