Fuel = Brushless
Brushless = more power, more runtime, better performance, higher cost
Newer Fuel kits might also be bundled with the newest high capacity battery packs (2.0Ah, 4.0Ah vs 1.5Ah, 3.0Ah)

I have the M18 kit, the drill and driver (not fuel) and love them to death. I just use them at home for building/fixing and I haven't found a single thing about them to complain about. You'l be happy with either I'm sure.

I just got the M18 Fuel drill last week and wow am I impressed. I got a great deal on eBay, so I sprung for the 18V LED light as well. The M18 Fuel 3/8 impact is next. If you go Fuel get the 4.0 batteries.

Banjo, thanks for asking this - I was wondering the same thing. I recently got an M18 combo kit and want a Fuel impact wrench now, but only if they use the same batteries and charger.

They use the same batteries. I've picked up a bunch of Fuel tools to replace my Ryobi stuff that was stolen.
One thing though. It looks to me like my Fuel Circular Saw is more heavy duty than the older one.
Very happy with the limited use I've put them to so far.

Oh, funny story... I was cutting holes into a cabinet door for ventilation last weekend, and my (loudmouthed) assistant, who was doing the drilling, complained about the drill not having any power. I looked and saw he was using it on Driver mode so was running into the clutch.
I pointed out his error and didn't give it another thought, until about twenty seconds later when the hole saw bit into the steel and I watched him completely lose control of the drill, it spun around and smacked him in the face.
My first reaction was to laugh my *** off. My second was to remember that we were working on the floor above the emergency room.
Turns out it was a good thing it hit him in the face because it had already turned his wrist enough it might easily have broken it if it hadn't been stopped by his lower jaw.
