Looking at getting a new box for school, most companies are giving me 50%+ off tools/boxes and even with that it seems like the montezuma boxes are more bang for the buck. The price is about the same straight across at the ones I am looking at, I am just avoiding snap on like a plague (story for another day) and the rest just do not seem all that exceptional. Just would like some input, thanks in advance.

And as far as space......well as much as possible with out compromising too much on quality. I am going to have tons of heavy impact sockets, bigger wrenches etc.

here is one way to look at it

the snap on will depreciate based off it list price. so the box will be worth about the same or more than you paid for it on the first day.
the monezuma will depreciate off its full list price as well, but if you are paying lits then....

I have seen the montezumas and think they are nice but if they are the same price then I would go with the snap on

Its about 2 grand give or take a few hundred...... and like I said I get discounts with most of the bigger names.

Not sure what the discount does for you or what you can handle in terms of logistics but

http://www.harborfreight.com/72-inch-20-drawer-roller-cabinet-red-glossy-finish-67428.html

that goes on sale for $1600 a few times a year +20% coupon. You can order over the phone. Its rebranded by others as well and priced far more. I believe its made by the same factory that supplies montezuma with their boxes. I know their 72s start around 4k list. Its a huge heavy quality box that i would not question surviving shop life [unlike a crapsman box].

the snap on will depreciate based off it list price. so the box will be worth about the same or more than you paid for it on the first day.

Not true at all. Used boxes, especially ones that have seen heavy use, never go for anywhere near their list price. A buddy of mine picked up a set for 3k [new 5k] that had been sitting on CL for 4 months and had been "sold" 3 times prior but every time the buyer failed to pay or show. You want to take a huge loss? Buy a SO box at list.

My opinion? Wait for a deal and buy a used box and lose far less.

But I think the point is he'll get it for far less than list.

Well the price difference is literally a couple hundred bucks between the montezuma black out and the snap on 76, and snap ons price is cheaper than I have been able to find any used.....the montezuma just looked like more bang for the buck and that is why I was second guessing the snap on but I would rather go with the sure deal. Thanks for all the advice, really great forum here!!
