Totally depends on how long it is. I bought a bunch of SOOW 8/4 cord a guy was selling on Craigslist (cord was new material but in two pieces, one about 38 ft and one about 45 ft) and I gave him $75 for it.

Totally depends on length, condition (clean, dirty, nicks, crushed spots, etc).

EDIT: Now I opened the pic and see its 60 ft. The ends are worth about nothing, and I see a nick or abraded spot on it....................... I would not go much over $50........ assuming he measured it correctly.

I put L14-30 twist lock type ends on mine and made them extension cords for my generator, and with adapters, they make good RV extension cord also, or welder extensions.

It depends on what you want it for, if you want it for a welder cord you can buy a 50' 3 wire 8ga cord with molded ends for 100$ on ebay. If you need a 4 wire cord then it has some value, I might pay 50-60$ if the cord looked good from end to end, any damage and I would offer 1$ a foot for the longest length that was good and I get the whole thing.

As Norcal already stated, its a problem if you want to use it on a worksite. Looks to be at least 50' but no plug? I bought a 50' extension for my welder locally for just under $100 new but that may be more now. Offer him $50 for it.

Yeah, sorry I should have put in length of 60 ft . . . .
. . . .
. . . . . . . guy is BONKERS . . . . he thinks it's worth HUNDREDS !!! :eyecrazy:

I researched price of brand new 8 gauge/4 conductor and found remnants (bargain bin) of UL rated (SOOW) for $2.90 ft. Same company (Allied Wire & Cable) also offered a non-UL rated for $2.50/ft for ANY length I wanted as long as it was greater than 50 ft (+ shipping).

So . . . I'm convinced CL Seller is a ***** as he's talking $300 !!! :eyecrazy:

I was considering this for "extension cord" for 240v air compressor or welder.

Let that doofus sit on it, used cord better be a bargain before touching it. There is a lot of ChiCom sourced wire & like the CL post, better to leave it alone also.

I agree with padroo. Offer him $40-50 bucks and then be prepared to walk away. He'll get the point or he'll find another *****, like himself, that can't do internet searches.

When I look at used stuff, I will consider the value to be 50% of new replacement and then down for condition. Lots of stuff offered for sale isn't worth anywhere near the asking. A fair offer and cash can close many deals.

NIIICE... 4 wire hooked up to a 3 wire receptacle...

FWIW, I got a 75' 8/4 SOOW cable with L14-30 ends for my generator for under $130.00...

Just to give you an idea, i bought a 100' piece of 6/4 SOOW in excellent condition from a local salvage yard for $90.

I was just looking at 230V extension cords and ended up just buying a new one made specifically for the outlet I was using. The main reason I bought new was I didn't like the idea of using a recep for the end. I wanted real plugs.

Search amazon for them. There are a bunch of them out there. I got a 40A cord (8 gauge wire) 20' long with NEMA 6-50P formed ends on it for $67. The plugs even light up if you're into that sort of thing.

For that one you're looking at I wouldn't personally mess with it at all but if I really wanted it I suppose $40 is about the most I'd pay assuming it's in better condition than it looks in the pic.

i bought a 25' piece of 6/3 with ground of SOOW that was like new at a flea market a few months ago for 5 bucks. it had ends on it but not the right ones. i will make an rv extension cord out of it. the ends are pricey so you have to get the cord cheap
