Its missing the original key and the hinge for the top needs to be popped back into place. Top compartment is a bit rusty but the other drawers seem good.
Not sure of the year but it appears to be vintage. This guys asking $200. What do you think?

Its cool, but I would maybe give $50. I doubt proto actually made that box, it is most likly a rebadged waterloo or rem line.

I dont pay retail for anything I dont have to but that is a cool box. It would probably pull $200-300 on eBay but start low, maybe $100 or so and see how it goes. Really though, its how much a person wants it as to how much its worth though. Imagine you have the Proto collection from that year and only missing that box, its priceless. On the onther hand, you have all new tools/boxes, that box is worthless. Where do you fit?

Could also been made by MBC (Metal Box Company). Strong boxes but, I'm cheap $50-$70 to me. No key knocks the price waay down for me at least.

Rebadged? you mean fake? Where would you get all those logo's and how can you tell if it is authentic?

i run into vintage boxes of that style and era occasionally, usually snap on, cornwell, craftsman, etc. if i need a project i may offer between 25 and 75 dollars for them if not to beat up. but that one is different, ive never seen that box before. i would offer at least 100 dollars, and if the drawer slides have no damage i might consider 150 / 175.

Op, i don't know what market you are in but $200 seems a little steep. If it were cleaner and less rusty in the top, I would say $150 would not be out of line. As it sits in those photos, I would say $50 -$75 tops. But that is just me.

Looks like a road box/chest. The Proto drawer pulls are cool. Maybe 1970's vintage?
I have a Mac road chest from around the same era, similar pulls.
With the rust issues and no key, the seller really should not expect more than $125 tops. (and that's if the drawer slides are working fine, no sticking drawers) Offer him like $75 and see if he takes it.
