Is this type of thread even allowed? :)

I'm looking at a snap-on box and trying to get an idea if it's a good deal

Check Craigslist or FB Marketplace.

In my area (Metro Detroit), used Snap On toolboxes of this size sell for $1800-$4000 depending on age and condition.

Thanks. It's a KRL1032EPXR, can't find any like this for sale anywhere. Seller said it was some sort of special edition based on the badge on the lower right drawer.

I *really* like this drawer layout (2 6' top drawers at 29" deep wow!)

Anyway, I can get it for $3500 seller says, so that seems to fit in with your estimate.

There is also a Matco 4S 3bay for $3500 here in town at a pawn shop. And I know there is Icon at HF for $2700 + tax (if I do the CC and 10% off). Decisions decisions. :)

The pawn shop would probably take half that for cash. They don’t have ten percent of that in it. Don’t go more. Don’t insult them, just tell them that that is what it is worth to you. Good luck!

the special "edition" with the badge actually doesnt increase the value at all, But it does appear to be in very good shape. The slides and castors are lifetime warranty.

Snap-on makes a lot of special editions. Especially wrapped boxes. Resale on those is no different than a standard edition. Functionally they are the same and the market is very limited. Depending on where you are located, some of those can actually be worth less than a standard box. From the looks of this one, I'm guessing the only thing special is the badge.

the first triple master series was a 1003, than 1023, than 1032 and 1033. Just different drawer configurations, just personal preference which one works best for you. Send pics when you get it loaded up :)

I paid $2800 for my KLR 1022 and it was very clean with the butcher block top. The guy wanted $4K but I was no where near that.

Around me it would sit unsold for months at $3500. At $2500 eventually someone would buy it, at $2000 or less it would probably sell fairly quickly. The toolbox resale market will is great for buyers and horrible for sellers. Nice looking box, I really like the Line-X coating on the top of my cart.

People are asking 5k for 10 year old classic double bays where I'm at. Blows my mind some of the prices you guys are throwing around on boxes. I wish I could snag a triple bay KRL for 3500..

I would echo Lugnut71 comments.
The 1023 like this one with 2 full length drawers tends be more desirable and it in a color that likely market better for used boxes and has a top.
Special editions don't generally help resale and in some instances make it harder sell .
Seen a fair few around 5K but they don't sell quick or at all for that price, If they real clean and all trim and liners in proper good order then it worth fair chunk of cash, 3 to 4K seems reasonable going range for proper clean one but it have be proper good close to new order .
Plenty room for negotiations/deals but it takes time and effort & you can't fully value a box until physically look at it really.

Thanks to everyone that replied, Friday is the day. Renting a u-haul truck and motorcycle trailer, 200 miles round trip to Cheyenne. Worked out a partial trade for my husky 72" that I grew to hate because of the drawer layout, also because with all my sockets in the top drawer the center sags with no bracing under that drawer. :)

One thing I noticed, the badge on the lower right bottom drawer is upside down, special edition my ***.
ideal really as allows bit more leverage when talking price .

Hopefully all else tidy
Enjoy the box, used truck boxes are money well spent when negotiated fair price .

Huge congrats on an awesome box, I just wish the hell both top drawers were deep. Very stupid that the aren't in my opinion.
Not sure what you mean? The box measures 29" deep and all the drawers are 27" deep, including the top two.

Thank you. Was owned and used by a diesel mechanic in Cheyenne so it's a bit grimy on the drawer liners and the sliders sound like sandpaper on some of the drawers but nothing I can't fix with some elbow grease. :)

Hopefully drawer liners will scrub up good enough .
Best way clean slides is use plastic pipe with end cap solvent welded/sealed on one end and put slide/slides in pipe along with some diesel and give them a long soaking and bit of agitating.
I recovered some slides that seemed likely junk with this method as really does get all the grit and grime out without much physical effort .

He's on about drawer depth as in height of drawer .
One full length long drawer enough IMO, no idea why everyone likes deep drawers so much but layout really a personal thing and we all got different uses/tools/preferences .

Has anyone on GJ done a drawer slide cleaning thread? This could be really useful.

I misspoke, I should have said both top drawers are tall, that way you could use one for tall sockets and the other for pliers.

Just because of the style of organizers I use I have to put both sockets and pliers in the top drawer. No where near enough room for all of them in one drawer, not even close.

Yeah the drawer layout pretty good on this IMO
We really are all quite different on drawer dimension needs though so one of those areas where each buyer needs be sure layout matches their needs .

Sweet ? So what was the final price ?

Final price was $2600 plus my old Husky. I had bought the Husky new from offerup for half of retail so I didn't lose out too much. I ended up spending an extra $150 for truck/trailer rental and $50 for gas tho. All told I think it was a fair deal all around but nothing in the 'you ****' category. :)
