That's a beauty, if it runs well and pumps up to pressure. Are repair parts available?
I'm going to get some more info on it tomorrow. My problem is that I have a bad habit of always needing the "you ****" price when I buy things used. Always been that way, probably always will be. But I've got a lot more money in the bank because of it! So we'll see how it pans out. Thanks for the feedback.
I would double check the max pressure on that. Some of them were in the 60-90 psi max range. Looking in my old catalogue that looks to be a 3Z170 pump head rated for 100 psi, 650-900rpm, and 8-10 cfm with a 2 to 3 hp motor.

I would try to get it for closer to $200, I would much rather have it then a newer one with the same CFM specs. I say this because I would be willing to bet that compressor is very quiet. Go take a look at it and hear it run, also speedaire is Granger rebrand of CH and Champion compressors so parts should always be easy to locate, just figure out who really manufactured the pump. I do agree that it looks like a Champion 3Z170 pump.

I would definitely buy it. If you spent $250 on a new compressor, it would not be anywhere near the quality of that one.

I had pretty much written off this compressor because I had to leave town for a few weeks, so I figured it would be sold by the time I got home. Not only is it still available, but the price dropped to $150.
It doesn't look to me like the tank is original (check out the weld job on the mounting plate in the first post), which worries me a little. I've only seen tanks that have the end caps welded on, but this one looks like it's welded down the center only. A newer tank (relative to the age of the pump) may be a great thing, but not if it's some sort of backyard propane tank job or tin foil thin or something. Any idea what this is? I obviously just want to make sure it's safe!

As for the tank. That square plate on the back side, upper right hand corner, should tell you all the specs on it. Make, date, capacity, pressure, etc. See if the current owner will let you pull the two plugs on the back of the tank. Put a flashlight in one hole and look in the other. See if there is a bunch of rust or any other signs for concern. If not, I would buy it.
