First post on the Garage Journal site. I IMG_1309.jpegfound some Starrett items in a wonderful handmade tool box. Most had model numbers, but a few items (see pictures) I can’t figure out what they are. The two long rods seem to have a cutter on the end. Any help with identification is much appreciated!
Thanks!

The two clamp things are trammel heads.

@mreisner for the win!

I would call the top guys masts, likely for a Starrett #57 or #257.

The #257 looks like this:

Sorry, you can't see the business end, but you can see the clamp pretty clearly. You can google "Starrett #257" (or the older #57, which just has a different base). The completed tool is generally called a "surface gage". You can buy the missing parts on eBay pretty inexpensively. These are very handy tools for machinists, tho not always used for their original purpose.

Yep!

Starrett No. 59 Trammel Heads.

Clamp them to any strip of wood and make an oversize compass / dividers.

I have an old pair of Stanley trammel’s, and use them a good deal. Certainly any time I need to lay out a large radius curve in woodworking.

The Starrett are higher quality. They would probably supply you spare scribers, though you might find the originals - they look like this.
