Whats this vice worth? Says C. Parker Co. Model 207 -6 and has a patent date 1910 on it. Other than the issue with the jaw and missing swivel lock as pictured it seems ok. The thing is huge -about 2ft long.

That broken jaw is not good. And by "seems OK" Do you mean you have inspected it for internal damage? Is it your's and you are looking for a selling point? Or are you looking to not pay over valus on one you are looking at?

It's a huge vise, but it's also going to bring only what someone is willing to pay.

looks ok = i dont notice any other major cracks or chunks missing from it. It has not had any inspection other than opening and closing the jaw. its not mine, it belongs to a friend who is looking to sell it, im trying to get a feel of what its worth.

There looks to be that one jaw is totally missing and its been used that way. You would need to have a jaw made but theres no guarantee that it will fit right. Time and effort? Not more then $50.

That jaw issue makes it junk unless you have tons of free time and a milling machine. $20 tops and perhaps you can rig something up./

It might be worth something for parts if someone is willing to post it and wait a long long time until someone happens to come by and need a part.

It does seem like swivel bases show up missing quite a bit.

Still, selling the parts for what they are worth would be more of a public service than a profit making venture.

im not trying to make a profit off the vice, hardly worth my time. Just trying to get an idea of its value.

what would it cost to fix this up?
If you are wanting a complete set of jaws for the vise your looking at $200 for the pair. If just one is wanted it would be $100.00. I wish I can get the price down but with the complex shape and multiple set ups it runs into a time issue. The other missing parts shouldnt be an issue relatively cheap.

I was just looking at your photos again. It appears the dowel holes to hold the vise jaw in place are busted out. Does anyone see that to or is it me. If these are broke out the vise is worth no more than spare parts for another vise. With them holes busted out there is no way to hold the jaw in place

Thats what I thought or very little is left. I guess you could fasten the jaws by other means (welding, etc.) but either way its a lot of work for what is an already compromised vise.

Yeah, that is what I saw. Maybe others did not and that is why they are answering they way they are. :dunno:

There are some great parts on the vise for other vises but not much money to be made.

Could weld up that dynamic jaw & then machine it back to shape, drill new holes etc.. & then make new jaws... You'd be into this boat anchor for $350 before ya had it operational...

I'd honestly just walk away from that one.

As others have mentioned, it may have some decent parts that someone might be able to use, but that hardly makes it worthwhile IMO.
I say that because if it were mine and someone I knew or a member here could use the parts, I'd most likely give them away or just ask shipping cost etc.

I'd pass on it all together. Getting that jaw fixed would kill the deal... even if I had the equipment and skill to do it. I wouldn't want to take the time to work it all out.

There are a lot of good vises still out there for a great price. Be patient, one will pop up without these issues.

The question was one of value, not if he should buy it or if it was it fixable.

I think value has to be just above scrap value. Since it either needs a ton of $$ invested to get it usable, or its only really good for parts.
