I have 2 vises. Ones an old Wilton and the other an old Craftsman. Are these machinists or mechanics? - I have someone that wants to buy the Wilton, but I don't know what its really worth, or if I should keep it and sell the Craftsman. Not sure if it matters, but for visual reference, the Craftsman is a lot bigger than the Wilton... Opinions please.......

On the left is a 'machinist' vice note the only way to hold is in the jaws and lack of anvil.
On the right is a mechanics vise note the two sets of jaws it also looks like it had a movable anvil at one time now missing.

Also worthy of note is the fact that the old Craftsman was originally made by Columbian, but rebadged for Sears.

I was gonna ask $120.00 for the Wilton. Does that sound fair, high or low?

How big is it? Personally I would not spend that much for a vise that was not a machinists vise, though I will say, I am taken with the design of that vise, it has a real "art deco" look to it, it is a real period look.

I would think no more than $60-75 tops, but perhaps I am just cheap.

Assuming the Wilton is on the left, do you have any idea how much a new Wilton vise of that size cost? I saw an 8" wide jaw x 12" opening for $450 recently and almost bought it.

Look at this wilton:
http://www0.shopping.com/xPO-Wilton...onary-Base-8-Jaw-W-12-Jaw-Open-5-13-16-Throat

If you get anything less than $300 for the bigger vise your giving it away. I'd say $75 for the orange one. It may be a more elaborate "mechanic's" vise, but the pipe jaws on the inside ****. they really limit what you can put in the vise.

Edit: I just made out the name on the bigger one. Noted that it is the Craftsman... But still dude. that a nearly $1000 vise. If you sell that for $100, your an idiot. Lowes has vises half that size for $100.

I'm all worked up now... Geez, some people don't know what they have.

That is why he is asking.........

Even I learned something today.......I guess my $40 Costco vise is not worth $1000.

Thanks again... I know the one on the left is an old Craftsman that was made by Columbian. and the orange one is a Wilton, but I can't seem to find anything like it on the website, the style has changed so much, and I don't know what's comparable to it today. I'm most likely keeping the Craftsman, its like 20" and I bought it for $40.00 - I think that was an awesome deal.... The orange one I got for free because I cleaned out a garage, I got a whole bunch of old tools free. I sanded and painted it orange, and planned on selling it, just wasn't sure what to ask.
