Nice work, Iknow how the money thing works though. I own my own tree care and kill business. It's so slow I'm trying to find some kind of job too.

shop looks good, very "humble" in appearance for it's size. fits in well with the home and area.

how does the ground not freeze if you get snow dumps like that?

Thanks for the compliments, can't wait to get finished. One of the reasons I went with the stepped, double gable front was to make it blend in more with the surroundings. When it's done,it should appear to be attached to the house from the street. The ground doesn't normally freeze around here, not many days of freezing weather, the weather here is similiar to Seattle, that snowfall was the once in twenty years accumulation, normally it would be rain and lots of it!

Finally after almost two months of not much happening due to a case of financial embarrassment, its time to get moving so this place can start earning its keep.Nothing like 13 yards(meters, actually)of concrete to boost the spirits!Times may be tough, but concrete prices aren't showing it!:spit:
Hmmm,broom finish,I don't think so!

Hey tfi - great to see you coming into the (long) home stretch! Like you said, at least you can get some stuff inside! Just make sure you build some shelves and benches so you can start organized - I have neighbours that started moving sh1t in and it's still a freekin' mess. he can barely get ONE car in his 4 car!! Shelves in boxes, no benches yet, insulation on the floor instead of on the walls....
As for the rotti - do you find everyone except the owners of them dogs hates them? They are so initmidating looking and the stories of them eating children just won't subside!
Looking forward to seeing more!

Very nice shop. Can't wait to see it finished.

One question though, it doesn't look like you used any PT wood between the concrete frost wall and the stud wall, are you not concerned with rot there? I thought it was code in most places but then I am not a builder so maybe I am wrong.

Good to see another island garage in here...I'm just down in Duncan. Coming along nicely, despite all that snow we had.

What will you be working on in there when it's done? Just the 3 in the fleet you showed earlier, or other projects?

Holy ****!Where has the time gone, haven't posted any updates since May!:headscrat Work has been sporadic and money a bit tight, but things are inching along...
C'mon in, the door maybe sideways, but it's open.

P9200081.jpg

I put a grey sealer on the floor,a Canadian product called Techi-Seal.So far it is holding up fairly well, but hates lacquer thinner!I'm not looking for a showroom floor, just something that keeps oil and fluids from soaking into the concrete.

P5310040.jpg

Doesn't take long to clutter things up,where will I put this **** when the drywall arrives next in the next week or so!Still have a bit of insulating and vapour barrier to finish up,must have ceiling boarded and insulation blown in before the colder weather hits.

P9200087.jpg

It took all summer, but the exterior is finally 99% finished, just a few trim details and a few light fixtures to go.

Gotta get after that landscaping, damn weeds around here NEVER die!

P9200083.jpg

This was my first vinyl siding attempt, time will tell if I did a good job or not, hopefully its all still on the walls when the winds hit!

Let's try another update!:tard:I was almost done but deleted it instead of posting...Anyways,a bit of progress-stupid out of town work assignments really slow things down-but the extra cash sorta makes up for being away...

My back hurts just looking at this pile...40ish twelve foot sheets

PA270045.jpg

The ONLY tool for the job,I would recommend a helper or two,but I did the boarding myself. My advice-get a better education, make a lot more money and PAY someone to do this!

PA270043.jpg

If I didn't have to continually move this POS and all the other **** already in here, this job would go a lot quicker...

PA270048.jpg

Ran out of drywall when these shots were taken, the areas above the doors are now boarded.

PA270050.jpg

First coat of mud and tape-guess what-shoulda tried harder in school, maybe I would be able to drink beer and watch the crew I would be paying instead of doing this thankless messy job!

PC060084.jpg

Move along now-no need to dwell on the hazardous temporary lighting and heater wiring...

PC060082.jpg

PC060086.jpg

If you have the space-you will fill it!30' of built in shelving, won't take long before I have to build more on the other side of the shop!

PC060085.jpg

I haven't decided on what to make the doors out of yet, aluminum checker plate or corrugated tin, maybe something interesting will show up at the salvage yard.

PC060081.jpg

PC060082.jpg

Since I did just about everything else-why not some finishing carpentry.May not be show luxury estate quality, but good enough for a garage. It's amazing how a hundred or so bucks worth of MDF can transform a space...

PC080088.jpg

A few more days of taping, sanding and navigating around all the obstacles, hopefully paint isn't too far away.It would be great to be working on cars again, this construction business may be best left to the pros!

Wow very nice! Did you poor a pad outside the back garage door as well? seem like that would be a good place to roll a projecto out and let it sit for a day or two, or pressure wash etc

again very nice!

Great build! Especially love those built-in cabinets. Would love to do something like that in my future space! Got any rough dimensions?
