I just bought a set of five Cornwell screw extractors, straight flute, think they were maybe $60. They work well. I don't have much Snap-On stuff, most of my pricier than 1970's Craftsman mechanic's tools are Wright and S-K.

The Cornwell guy will drop-off stuff at my friend's shop if I pay for them & I pick them-up, he gives me a bit of a break on pricing. Not what a mechanic in a shop gets, but something's better-than nothing.

I did recently buy this set of Husky sockets for use at a second house, instead of having to schlep tools between houses. On-sale right now, $99 for 200 pieces, and that's not three-dozen #2 phillips-bit driver tips. All 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" standard and deep-drive sockets, 6-point and 12-point. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-1...zbx3nY7zw5_BcDjK1NhoCyZ0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Thanks for bringing me up to speed. Maybe his tools are better than Snappy's . Word from the street is that Cornwell has good tools.

The hard-line tools I had never impressed me. For the price I would say they are definitely not worth it. I just throw them away as they break now and replace them with other brands.

I had some personal issues with a driver over refusing to warranty an oil filter claw that broke the first time I used it. Perhaps things have changed in the seven or eight years since I bought that socket set, but I will never buy Cornwell tools again.

They supposedly joined the rest of the world and added detents to their chrome sockets. All the impacts have easy read etching now too which is kind of nice.

As far as their stuff being higher than Snap-on, im not really seeing it. Full list vs full list they're comparable or cheaper but with Cornwell you always buy out of those flyers.

I remember some of us had issues with the fit of various line wrenches - not on the fastener, but in the hand. My boss from decades ago had MAC line wrenches because the SO ones bit into his hand, and I had raised panel C'mans for (partially) the same reason.

I'm not sure if their handle geometry has changed in the past 35 years, or if my older hands changed, but that hand bite isn't an issue now as it was then.
