Hey Sam. I just joined a few days ago myself. I have really enjoyed looking through the posts here. I'm surprised none of the regulars responded so you have to settle for me.

Why does something seem strange about this? There have been several introductory posts in the Lighting and Electrical Forum in the past month or so. We have a intro forum, so why are we seeing this, and why are they all worded the same?

Oh - I see now - at the top where it's 'readily visible'. Missed that. Usually on forums I frequent it's a separate section or it's listed in the description of the sub-forum on the main page. OK - I'm just making excuses now - I just plain missed it.

Guys - I've been participating on many forums for many years and I missed your intro forum. Obviously I'm not a spammer because I'm responding but it wasn't where I expected it to be. And I wasn't allowed to post until I signed up. And I had to pass a few visual tests before it would accept me so I would hope that you aren't flooded with spammers. If your only problem with spammers is a hello message then you are doing pretty well.

It goes in spurts, and sometimes get ugly. I simply do not know how the spammers get around all the sign up stuff, I guess they have a horde of people just signing up on various boards, and then start flooding them. We've had some where there were one or two posts in EVERY forum on this board, all posted within a couple of minutes. What gets me is, do they think that anyone really reads or responds to this ****?

I have heard where they have cracked some of the visual anti-spam techniques. Makes it difficult to run a board for sure. My point was that spammers are normally a hit and run nuisance. I think some of the members here think that if they say "hi' then they are somehow opening a door for the spammers. Really - there is no risk in saying hello. And I do think you need to clarify where new members need to say hello. I did miss it and I'm not new to this whole interweb thingy.
