Recently for the holiday I was given a set of matco torx sockets and I already have a set of snap ons. I'd like to trade them in to the truck for something that I don't have. So what is worth it for from matco for 165 or under? Thanks

Swivel impacts, the 1/2" female to 3/8" male swivel impact adapter, Torque II screwdrivers/torx/nutdrivers, bent nose hose pinch pliers.... off the top of my head.

The way Matco has treated their ratchet warranty-claims customers, the CEO and Board of Directors should be in prison.

No arguments from me on the way they handled the warranty claims, but they too were caught up in the Armstrong debacle with the Texas plant shut down and the floods in the East. They did move the manufacturing to Elmhurst, Illinois and I can state I think the newest are their best yet - and yes I bought a few.

But then again I bought 4 repair kits for each drive two years ago because at the time I was getting ready to fire my previous Matco man.

Before any Dual 80 fans jump in, Matco 88 ratchets are excellent, my two favorites are the 1/4" cushion handle and the 1/2" cushion handle 24" flex head ( more than the $165 you listed but we'll worth it).

I don't like that Maxx 88's because they aren't sealed like the dual 80's. I'd definitely trade towards swivel impacts if you don't already have them.

Matco ratchets are garbage! Had all of mine rebuilt multiple times and and just had them rebuilt again last Monday. Now thinking about selling them while they are "new" and not yet broken.

I have had an astounding number of my customer trade their other brand ratchets for Snap-On.

The ONLY one even some of my customers prefer are the 1/2" locking.

The Witte screwdrivers are excellent. The impact swivels are great too.

Nothing at full retail but if you can get a deal

Impact swivels
combo wrenches (USA made)
Long double box ratcheting wrench.
Picks and screwdrivers are from Witte and have a fanbase
Magnetic spark plug socket set, assuming you don't have spark plug sockets.

Ratchets are hit and miss. I definitely like my dual 80 and Nepros more for the actual ratcheting action but Matco has the best locking flex system by far and the heads are also pretty much the thinnest on the market.

Thickness wise a Matco 88 3/8" ratchet is as thick as most other brands 1/4" drive stuff and Matco 1/4" ratchets have no equal other than other ex-Danaher company clones.

I also just got a couple impact wrenches to play with (the IR looking ones from Professional Tools) and they're actually very good.

I've been trying to get in touch with their customer support for a couple days. They either won't come on the line, or won't return voicemails. Doesn't seem that great if you have a problem and need to get a person on the line.

The Witte screwdrivers are nice. Tips grip good and last a long time. I like the fuzzy no-slip stuff on the handles. My SnapOn set got demoted to home use, since I got the Wittes.

My experience with Matco ratchets have been much better, but I do my own regular maintenance. The first two Snap On 1/4" T72 ratchets would free wheel or jam up and the dealer took them back, the 3rd one is only marginally better (first one came in a set).
