Whats wrong with old fashioned engraving or stamping?

I know my eyesight is not what it was, but one of my pet hates is struggling to see what I assume is laser engraving on modern tools. I guess it comes down to cost but I know which one of these torque wrenches is more practical to use.I know its better on the lower numbers but you have to get just the right angle and use a magnifier on the higher torques.
Particularly when buying sockets I want large and deep engraving.

Data plates for equipment should be stamped as well. The cheap printed stickers that wipe off and become unreadable are stupid and aggravating.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I have a buddy who knows he has job security because he is the only one in the shop who knows how to run one of their machines and as all the labels for the indicators have been wiped away, training someone new is going to be next to impossible.
