At my work. Whoever installed it obviously didn't know you need to loop it somewhere around the frame. Now whoever steals the cats gets a free cat clamp

I think it is supposed to be a security apparatus to keep someone from stealing the Cats off of it. The thing is they'll steal the apparatus also if they cut front and back.

Erampu....theft of factory Catalytic Converters happen quite often. One evening in Springfield, Ohio, over 100 CC's were stolen off of cars. Cordless Sawzalls are a thief's best friend. Now the Recycling places have to have a picture ID and keep a log as to what comes in. Catalytic converters, copper plumbing, and an over abundance of wire, throws up a red flag almost every time.

Exactly, however when installed it needs to be looped around some part of the car not easily removed. Doesn't make it impossible to steal just enough of a headache to make the thief skip to another car

with out a doubt...One of the Stupidest things that I have ever seen!
It is going to take a Thief less time to remove that, than it did for the idiot who put it on.
If They can cut off the Cat...They can cut off that stupid ****!

I'D put Barbed wire around it...Ha Ha!

Funny. Yet not funny. At one of the places I work with huge multiple parking lots, we just got a security email to be on the lookout. Says that there's been numerous Thefts of 1) catalytic converters and 2) 3rd row seats out of minivans!!!

Good idea, poor execution. I work in the shipyard and theft of catalytic converters is a real issue. I figure if someone ever snatches mine I will add some 1/4" plate for them to cut the next time.

Nice gizmo...I, on the other hand have installed a small

magnetic device on my fuel line in front of the fuel filter

that is guaranteed to increase MPG of the vehicle, AND

it only cost me 39.95 plus s/h plus sales tax.

Any one interested....???

We've probably had at least a dozen cats stolen off cars in the last year out of our lot at work.

WTF...... after ready replies and looking at pic again I could still cut the F@CKER off. Some sort of skid plate would be better than that.

It's hard to tell from the pic but it looks like two of the loops cross over a crossmember of some sort at the top side in the middle.

yeah those cat clamps mean you need a cordless grinder with a zip disk on it as well as the cordless reciprocating saw to remove it.

Guys.....I had a customer come in that had his cat conv stolen from his vehicle while he was eating lunch at a nicer restaurant in town. It was 3 pm and on the corner of 2 very busy streets. The cop that filed the report followed him to the shop since the car was running like *** and he was afraid to give it hell.

That cable system installed CORRECTLY would have made the thief move to the next easier target

It's more than likely installed wrong. If it's not going through the frame or crossmember then all they have to do is cut in front and back on the outside of the red plates and steal the cats and the lock.
