Looking for a new retractable drop light. Plan to mount it the hoist, would like LED as I always seem to be out of rough service bulbs when you need one. Prefer one with an outlet but its not a must.

I still havnt found the perfect one. I got several deals I plug in with different clamps.
The thing I use the most is the handhelds on our battery system and find myself using that most of the time. I have some on stands too. The battery lights are so valuable we have 5 of them.

I screw LED bulbs into my old arm burners. Just look for ones with a plastic exterior, and forget about the need for rough service.

I gave up on drop lights after years of aggrivation. It would never stay in the right place at the right time and always in the way at the wrong time, I went to a 3 setting LED headlamp. Battery life is excellent. It still has a couple downsides but overall works significantly better than a drop light for my purposes.

For about 2 years now I've been using a Streamlight Protac HL USB rechargable. Has 3 settings. 65/400/1000 lumens

I use one of my rechargeable headlamps just about every day (largely for night-time gardening), but I don't find it to be a substitute for a drop light.

I use my drop lights (or cordless light sticks), when working on my vehicle. If I were to use a headlamp, I'd constantly have it knocked off my head, and the shadows from all the obstructions (and their movement as my head moves), would drive me nuts.

I use rechargeable LED now. My tools are Milwaukee so I use its lights and share batteries with the tools. Funny you write this now. Last night I brought a box of 3 old trouble lights down from the 2nd floor to throw out.

I use an Astro 30SL, I like the magnetic base and flexible shaft. It makes getting light on what I'm working on and keeping it there easier.

I have a few rechargeable led lights, including the large hf bauer light and will be ordering the milwaukee M12 soon.
I do have a couple of old droplights I use that I found at a yardsale. I miss the quality of those lights sometimes. They seem to light up a larger area.
