What's your favorite hand tool?

I love me some good old fashioned tool show-and-tell. These threads always make my wallet cringe. :D

What's your favorite hand tool (non-powered), and why?

Mine would have to be my Wera Kraftform Kompakt. I love the way it collapses in on itself, and then everything pops out with a push or a squeeze. Has all the bits I need in the handle, and the grip is super comfortable (for me).

My favorite tool/ one of my most used tools is my plvmb water pump 10" pliers. They say plvmb on the handles and the jaws are thinner than new slip joint pliers. Plus the handles are metal and can slide in and out of your pants pocket easier than the new rubber grip ones. I keep them in a magnetic tool tray on the side of my tool box so I can walk up and grab them without even opening my box.

Lately I've appreciated my vintage S-K hard green (acetate) handled 3/8" screwdriver / pry-bar. Handy, can beat on it, perfectly functional, seemingly indestructible.

My favorite, most trusted and used tools are my Snap On TSLF936 and FSLF936 ratchets. Love that tool!

I'll agree with jallyn I love my green handle SK stuff, but my current favorite tool is my 3/8" flex head dual 80. It's just the perfect ratchet 9 out of 10 times. It's also my most used tool, so it gets my vote.

The tool I use the most is my purdy 2inch paint brush. Every time I buy a house (I flip and rent houses) I paint the entire house an there is so much cutting in. I don't let my employees do any of the cut in so a 1300sqft house probably takes me 3 weeks or so to do all the brush work, sometimes dven longer. I hate it but it's one thing I'm pretty good at. My favorite has to be either my sk ratchet, don't know what model but it's pretty fine and it's strong has hell, I also love my fl80 and surprisingly my craftsman 3/8s flex head, i got it probably 6 years when the quality was still pretty good.

Only the best screwdrivers. All the rest can be 'close enough' but not in the case of a screwdriver. For instance, I use a fair amount of brass slotted screws. I have way more straight screwdrivers for an exact fit than Phillips or the others. But my Philips collection ranges from 0000 to 3 and I keep them only until they don't bite snuggley. I have a full set of Torx because, well these days you must. Square drive, where does it stop? Then there's that butterfly type of screw that GM used a lot years ago called a clutch screw. Gotta have one of those.

Yep, screwdrivers are no. 1 for me. If you don't have the right one the job goes south right then and there. This is no joke.

Could You please ask a simpler question that I might be able to answer? My brain goes numb when thinking about picking a single favorite out of all the tools that share an important part in My life..

Snap on shlf80. Just long enough to break most things free but short enough to fit in most places. Most used ratchet by far

Mom said one of my first words spoken was scoodoo. I was referencing screwdrivers. Dad worked at AT&T and always had pocket screwdrivers for some safety promotion. Before I could write I was playing with screwdrivers. That's the why I guess.

As to the which ones. Klien if I'm feeling electrical or data related. Vintage S&k green handles Iif I'm feeling mechanical. Craftsman acetate if I want to open a can or bang the tool up. New dewalt with metal top for hammering. Wera for keeping grease free in with woodworking tools. Just got in some japanese industrial standard just in case. I got a bunch of the craftsman professional screwdrivers because the deals were to good. Old vintage vaco cause they remind me of dad.

Probably more. Guess I got bit by screwdriver bug early in life.

Snap-On mid length chrome box end wrenches. They are just the right length and feel so nice in my hands.

I have probably 30k in tools but my kershaw pocket knife is what is consider my favorite hand tool.

OK, now which Kershaw pocket knife do you carry? My EDC knife is the Kershaw 1830 OSO Sweet, which, being made in China is $20 or less, still a great knife and I don't worry too much when I scratch or ding it.

Probably the leatherman Wave. I have religiously carried one for 12 years and it is within about 5% of perfection with regards to design.
