It's gonna be hard to beat those Cman Professionals. I think they're rebadged Mayhews, but I could be wrong. If it were me, I'd go with the Cman set you're looking at.

I have had good luck with the OTC ones at school, as well as the Sk green handled non striking cap kind. I have thought about getting a set of these, because they would have made the job easier, but I have gotten along without them. The downfall of OTC is that the may not be made In USA. If somebody knows please share. The Cman pros are def. well built. IF you dont have the striking cap, you will screw up thehandle in no time. I havent really used the striking cap on the OTCs ever, and obviously havent hit the SKs either. t all depends on what you are goign to be dong with them. Just the otherday we needed a long one for leverage sliding a small engine lathe through the a doorway at school. You generally wont need the striking cap, because if you do, your giunna be screwing up whatever your working on id imagine. If your doing to be doing like Demo work on wood structures, the striking cap would def. be a plus, but for general prying, I have never needed them. If you dont mind spending the extra money on the striking caps, its a great feature to have.

I couldn't live without my Snap-on pry bars, though they only have the plastic handles. You can still really pummel those handles. They're strong.
I may try the MAC ones with the striking cap, though.

A close friend of mine who has been a Ford mechanic for 17 years has the MAC set. They are great! Striking cap and very nice rubber handle grips........ quality. He's always using one.

I've been looking for a set like the one they issued me when I was a Tech many years ago; they were all metal with a pry bar flat edge like above and the other end of the metal shaft was cut down to a point for centering bolt holes.

I understand where your coming from, but these MAC pry-bars are top notch. The handles are phenominal. Plus they go up to 36", which he uses the most. The craftsman professional set only goes up to 25" for the longest bar. I have the same grip on my craftsman screwdriver set. The MAC grips are better. I'll be getting the MAC ones.

With pry bars and crow bars, just make sure you buy a good brand name like the ones mentioned. You dont want a cheapy breaking under pressure and shooting in your face. :rocker:...(felt like sticking that in there..L)
