Do you collect VACO also. If you do the Tru Value in Fremont Ohio has some NOS VACO screwdrivers and nut drivers on their display racks for sale.
Okay that might be the final nail in the coffin to make me go.

My holy grail tool that I would actually use is a Plomb 5450 Pebble Finish Ratchet. I wouldn't mind having any kind of Pebble Finish Plomb ratchet. Or one of Those P&C pebble ratchets...

I stole the pic of the P&C from @Catfishdan in the 1/4 drive thread.

Hello everyone,

I have a small collection of old HAZET tools including rare tool carts (as the first 1954 Assistent 160 and others).
Certainly not complete yet - some of them will certainly still be found in the future...

But to complete this ratchet set (1933-2000) my holy grail tool is the very hard to find 1930's simple open hexdrive ratchet with screwdriver end (probably a resale from another brand):

hazet-ratchet-230a.png

and a very, very rare and simple "Hazet" branded padlock (I know the manufacturer: SUL, from Wuppertal) :

Always wanted a snow plow for the PU truck, like a Western Defender straight blade. Rather use a bully tool snow shovel better workout.

My Holy Grail Tool was a Beverly Shear.
1. It is a manual, sheet metal shear that cuts straight OR curved shapes. I'll use it for hobby use - making stuff out of thin gauge metal things, like metal trays, fixing sheet metal parts. I was trained as an aircraft mechanic and worked on aircraft sheet metal parts when I was younger and thought these shears were the coolest thing ever!
2. Photo attached. Mine is a Beverly B-3. This is the largest throatless shear that Beverly made. Recently, Beverly Shear closed its doors, but another company is now re-making it or got the patent rights? Norcalmachinery or Mittler Bros Machine and Tool These look like a very good, new tool. If you do find a used throatless shear, remember, "You can cut small things with a big shear but cannot cut large things with a small shear".
3. I found my shear at an online auction company, in Wisconsin. They have some cool stuff. Take a look. Wisconsin Surplus Once in a while there's a gem in there. FWIW, I paid $350.00 for my shear. I noticed that as of today, there is a nice South Bend (model A) metal working lathe that's up for auction, ends March 28, 2023. I guess you could say that my "runner up" for another Holy Grail item might be a South Bend Lathe. Do a search for band saws or drill presses and you might find something you like.

This should be fun. It’s all about the tool you have been wanting for forever. It doesn’t matter if the tool is rare or out of your budget etc.

Here are the rules
1. What is it and why do you want it?
2. Provide a photo even if you don’t own it.
3. Story behind how you got it(if you obtained it)

I have a lot of great tools but always wanted a double horned Hay budden anvil.
So how did you get it?

My grail is a garage. I desperately need my own.

My tool grail is currently a 1944 Snap on TM412E 1/4" drive 3/8" 8 point socket. Its the last piece I need to complete a set.

No photos of either.

Well this is kind of a tool, at least it belongs in my shop. Unfortunately they went from being too rich for my blood to WTF.

I checked and both of mine have the G code In otherwise mostly E marked sets.
-Don
Thanks Don. Food for thought, but I haven't seen an acquirable G code one either. Seems to be the same for the TM10D breaker bar. Nobody seems to have ever seen and E code breaker bar.

One stinkin' collet for a Snap-On blind hole bearing puller: CG 40-9 7/16".

I've got most of the other sizes, but the one that I'm missing is the one that I always need. Ain't it the way?

MrRic, I already got a K200 for it - now I need a good K60 (missed a few...)

Please let me know when you decide to part with them (hmm, and let me know what you have for Blackhawk). If you have some pictures, please send me some once you decide to part with some of your treasures.

I just scored mine last month. It was in Tennessee and I drove out to pick it up.
I first saw one in the office of a parts warehouse. It was all restored and looking sooo good.
then I saw a picture of one and knew just what it was and from that day forward I've been on the hunt for a Snap-on K60 tool box.

I stumbled onto an old facebook post that was 6 months old and it said there was one available if someone wanted one.
I quickly sent a message to the fellow. He returned a message saying that it wasn't his, that he was contacted by the owner 6 months ago trying to sell it to him. I asked him if he still had that contact and he did. He sent me the info and I followed it up. The gentleman in Tennessee said he had forgotten all about the toolbox. It was his Dad's and yes I might be able to acquire it, if I was planning to give it a good home.
I sent him a shot of the Big party garage and he said it's yours. I drove 5'500 miles round trip in 6 days to pick up the tool box and an Alemite wall in Chicago Which was another holly grail piece for me

I've been told this one. It is really neat and I will admit it has opened my eyes to a whole new level of collecting. I would really like to find the small version, I believe a 92? To go with it and my little Stephen's patent jewelers vise. That would be a neat addition to my growing collection.

Respect, for the monumental effort you have put into collecting the best of a bygone era.

Two went through the local classifieds a while back. I was tempted to get one, but I realised it would just sit and I was suffering an acute attack of Garage Journalitis. KNOW THE SYMPTOMS!
Garage Journalitis? Sounds like cranial rectumitis.:ROFLMAO:

That is pretty cool. What model and history? And more pics if you don't mind. I am a vise guy also.

Mine is a Parker no 98 carriage makers vise. I found it last fall, not having any idea what I had found. I did however learn ALOT about vises since then. Fortunately for me I didn't let a few other guys I know take advantage of my then lack of knowledge. The other cool collectable one I have is a Stephen's patent jewelers vise I've had for years, mainly because I paid almost nothing for it and it was always to odd to get rid of. Just a conversation piece. I'd like to have the small Parker Halls patent to sit with the two just because. I know a guy who has one, however he won't part with it and seems to really want my no 98. It's the only one he's missing to have the set!
