When building a pole barn, I have found two types of posts are used. solid and 2x6 laminated. I'd like to hear from those of you that have experience with each type. I have read the "benefits" of the laminated type. but they don't seem as common as solid beams.
Now pour on the opinions because I'm planning my shop after waiting 14years.

I've built three pole barns in Orygun and Montana, going back over twenty years, using solid posts. No problem with any building.

My son and I built one a few years back. No problems with the solid posts. Remember, build it twice as big as you think you need (it'll still end up being too small)
