Weekend project? This one will take me more than a few weekends. It wont fit in the garage, so I'm building a PVC shelter to keep the weather off and work in. Hopefully it wont become an expensive kite. This will be a limo for a local company.

I'm working on replicating a late '60's Porsche "Luggage Deposit". It was an option on 911's & 912's that replaced the useless rear seats with a luggage shelf with some storage underneath. A friend gave me an original beater to deconstruct in order to make patterns of the pieces.

Here's the beater...

Here's the new one so far...

The new one is an exact reproduction and fits just like the original, which is not very well. I'll take this one apart, make the patterns, and rebuild it so it actually fits. I also have to include some cut-outs for the roll bar.

That's my weekend.

I am going down to my mom and dads house and help him rebuild the downstairs bathroom. Helped him tear it apart and take out the walls and stuff. Now we have to rebuild it. Run electric, plumbing, floor, ceiling, all kinds of good stuff!
I'd rather have something to do on the weekends though and sit on my *** and wonder what to do! Plus I love helping out my parents!!!!!

I picked up a 1954 (I believe) Rodgers Machinery #61 tablesaw. It's in pretty good shape for it's age. Right now I've got the top off the base which is now painted with Rustoleum Hammered Finish in Verde Green.
As we speak I'm waiting for new arbor bearings to show up. While waiting I painted the underside of the table and castings smoke grey.
It's not exactly a weekend project, but it's what I'm working on.

My weekend project is about on the 3rd weekend, built sofits on 2 walls, tore down 3 3door cabinets and used the face and doors and rebuilt on the 3rd wall. Trying to get the painting done so I can install the Racedeck floor this weekend, not sure if I will make it or not but sure have been having fun.

That sounds like a fun and useful project.

Well, what would you like to know? It's 3 1977 busses, welded together for the Purple Haze Smoke Shop here in Myrtle Beach. At 26 feet long, it's a contender for the record of world's longest VW. Research is being done to find out if anyone's ever built one that was longer. The longest one that we know of was 19 feet. The bus, or limo, will be used as a customer shuttle bus, and will be the craziest project I've ever worked on.

The interior will be right out of the 60's, but with all the amenities you'd expect in a modern limo and more.

Gotta tune up the lawnmower at my rental property! Time for a fresh blade, fresh oil, fresh spark plug and fresh air filter. After that over to a buddies to try his latest home brew. :spit:

This weekend going to change oil and filters, rotate tires... on my Lincoln Continental, Toyota Corolla, and Honda Goldwing then convert and prep my GT5000 Craftmans tractor from Winter snowthrowing duties to Summer grass cutting duties! Then if I have time going to remove all the stuff I have stored in the garage attic getting ready to rewire the lights, install insulations and install a plywood ceiling in it!

My two sons and I are installing my 4-post Direct lift today, Saturday. I've got it unloaded, unpacked and laid out, ready to go. My wife is heading for the hills, she says, and will return home only when it is safe to do so.

Same here. I planned on starting a veg. garden with the wife, but that's out of the question now. I guess I'm stuck inside...:(

go eat corned beef & cabbage and drink irish beers at the nearby catholic church :beer2:

and if I'm not too tuned in after that, I'll probably lay the last of the tile in my dining room. Got that cut last night.

Last weekend I got to work on the race car. This weekend, the project was something for the kid -- a toddler-size zipline for the front yard.

Raw components in the first picture. A roughed out version of the bracket in the second.

Here's the bracket with some paint on it. I used a toddler swing set seat since it has a seatbelt and can recline back.

Here it is set up between the swingset and the fence. It hooks to one of the eyes for a (removed) swing, and then connects two two different points on the fence.

Underneath it, you can see the climbing thing I made for him to monkey around on.

Jack,

You sure do use a lot of curved wood!

What stops the zipline? Does he just careen into the wrought iron fence at the end of the run?

About an hour ago, my buddy and I just finished putting a new hood on a '98 Grand Prix for someone. Also re-aligned the fascia, fenders and lights. Did all of this in the drizzle and by the light of a Mag-Lite!! :wtf:

Well, two things. One is I tested it with dead weights. Anything over 35 pounds and he 'lands' on the grass and that stops the forward progress. But if he's lighter than that (or if the grass friction doesn't do the trick), there's a stop on the line (where the second loop comes back) that would just let the seat swing like a pendulum before it hits the fence.

But the whole thing is designed to go kind of slow, which I think makes it safer. In any case, it makes the short 40' run last a little bit longer.

Thanks for the info. Keep the pictures coming. I love seeing pictures of how stuff is built/put together and remodeled. You are realy engineering a beast! Hope that gets in the book of would records.
