Well, two things. One is I tested it with dead weights. Anything over 35 pounds and he 'lands' on the grass and that stops the forward progress. But if he's lighter than that (or if the grass friction doesn't do the trick), there's a stop on the line (where the second loop comes back) that would just let the seat swing like a pendulum before it hits the fence.

But the whole thing is designed to go kind of slow, which I think makes it safer. In any case, it makes the short 40' run last a little bit longer.

So are you going to video tape, or take some pics of this for us of your kid in action:thumbup:?
That looks like something fun to do!

Just took care of a Williams wrench I picked up a couple of weeks back. It was originally painted gloss black which isn't really a good finish on a wrench. So I lightly beadblasted what little paint was left on it (& the surface rust) & then gave it the oil/blowtorch treatment.
Pics appear a bit fuzzy.. :(

It's now cooling down on the stovetop.

I have one of those as well:

Ok I know it isn't the weekend...but finally got caught up enough to post. Started out the weekend by rebuilding the A999 Automatic transmission out of my sons jeep that he decided to try out for U Boat training. Water and Transmission bands and clutches do not mix. When that was completed we pulled in my buddy's Ford Explorer and fixed the transfer case. The nylon bushings wore out on the shifter fork and ruined the fork. quick and easy fix.
Then had another buddy come over and we replaced the upper and lower ball joints and axle joint in his '05 Dodge 4 X 4.
I think I would rather rebuild the transmissions and transfer cases then do that again.
Of course all of this was done with friends and not by myself.

Saturday was ambulance call day again, 12hrs, no calls again. Managed to get the 2nd Liftmaster 3800 installed in the house garage. New doors went in on Thursday, Friday I installed the 1st opener. Guy came to get the 2 kart motors that I was working on last weekend, and dropped off another.
Sunday drove 70mi round trip to look at a '76 F250 Hi-Boy, it was pretty trashed, I made an offer, he declined, I left. I'll check on it next weekend as I have a plan.
Got back home, moved everything out of the house garage and swept it out. Washed off the Gravely ZTR/blower moved it to the shop for removal of the blower, sharpen blades and install the mower deck, oil change. Wife gave the Jeep a badly needed bath, I got the leaf blower fired up and blew most of the leaves out of the flower beds. Put the battery charger on the Ultra Classic even though I know I need to pick up a new battery, it's an '01 with the original battery.

Just doing stuff around the yard now that the snow is all gone. Got a lot of little projects that I want to do this year. The good side is that since this is our second year in the house this summer should be easier.

I keep hoping the same thing, or tornado last spring made thinge a real ***** for our first summer there, hopefully this year will be a bit easier. I've still got some trees to cut/trim, but at least I can do them on MY schedule this year. Better get started soon though, once things start greening up it makes tree work a *****.

Going to start to tape the joints in the new barn. Last week I passed the plumbing pressure tests and lit the furnace for the first time. It's finally getting close to being done.

Last weekend I got to work on the race car. This weekend, the project was something for the kid -- a toddler-size zipline for the front yard.

Raw components in the first picture. A roughed out version of the bracket in the second.

Here's the bracket with some paint on it. I used a toddler swing set seat since it has a seatbelt and can recline back.

Here it is set up between the swingset and the fence. It hooks to one of the eyes for a (removed) swing, and then connects two two different points on the fence.

Underneath it, you can see the climbing thing I made for him to monkey around on.

In no particular order between 7pm on Thursday and noon on Sunday:

Laundry
- Buy printer ink and paper so I can print taxes
- File my taxes for IL, IN, and PA - Got my fed refund a couple of weeks ago
- Pay bills
- Go to the bank
- Haircut
- Install a ceiling fan
- Clean my garage floor and workbench
- Put away snow shovels and other winter stuff
- Oil Change on Wife's Escape
- Wash Wife's Escape and clean the interior
- Buy oil for the next oil change in my truck
- Home Depot run for misc stuff
- Move Detailing supplies from the laundry room to the garage
- Set up my IPhone to sync with our home laptop
- Download a couple of hundred pics from the camera
- Load AutoCAD on our home laptop
- Read through a mountain of mail - usually a tool catalog or two in the mix
- Put screens back in all of the windows around the house
- Put in a full day at the office on Friday - annual review and pick up my new company computer

This weekend's to-do list isn't any of the projects I'd like them to be but when you're only home 3 days a month, the little stuff adds up and turns that time into a complete Charlie Foxtrot. At least Saturday night should be fun, we're going to go out to dinner and see Ron White in Rosemont with some friends.

This weekend it was running power out to a small shed on the other side of my driveway. I've got a flatbed trailer I'm working on (or will be, now that the snow is gone). Last year it took up half the drive in front of the garage, making my wife none too pleased, so I thought I'd run a pair of outlets out to where the trailer is. I put in some 1 1/2" conduit, and ran direct burial 12/2 and 8/3 out to the shed. That'll give me a nice 20A 110V circuit and a 40A 220V circuit. I was originally planning to run 6/3, but the price of the wire is outta control. They're mighty proud of that stuff!

Since I'm using direct burial cable, the conduit is there just to protect the cable. I always use conduit when I'm running across a driveway or any heavy traffic area.

This is the trench, about half finished. Digging a trench is always fun, but more so when it's across a clay/rock mixture that's been driven on for about 20+ years. To add to the fun, there's a comm line and a propane line running across the path, so it all had to be dug by hand using idiot sticks.

For those of you unfamiliar with the term, an idiot stick is a stick with a tool head at one end and an idiot at the other. These are the tools:

and this is the idiot!

Overseeing the whole operation was my supervisor. He's about 13 years old, and he's gotta be a part of whatever's going on. Last fall he got a bit close when my wife was rolling logs off of a stack of cordwood and got two broken toes out of the deal. A couple of months in a splint and he's good as new!

This weekend I'll be putting this trailer in the shop.I'll strip off the old wood decking and paint the frame. Ultimately it will get all new wiring, decking, fenders and lights.

Worked on installing a new spa tub.

Tripped over a new market with all the house foreclosures. My wife and I have been looking into getting a new spa/hot-tub. We have been considering replacing our out dated non-working spa for a few years. We went looking a new ones and the cost was more than I wanted to take out of savings with all the payouts from the shop that is finishing up. While looking on Craigslist I saw the brand I am sold on offered for sale. It turns out that he is getting these spas from the Los Angeles area from the bank owned properties and flipping the spas after a little TLC and free delivery and a warranty.

So who would even think about this little niche market???? If he got it for free and only had to pick it up, clean it out, doll it up and advertise and make $2400. That is good business.

Been rebuilding an old trailer that my bro gave me about 3 or 4 years ago. Its a 6x9 or so, made from an old mobile flashing arrow sign/billboard. He used it to haul his go karts for years and then I got it and made the mistake of overloading it with some moist dirt and ended up breaking the axle and bending one of the frame rails. So I've been tearing it apart and starting to put it all back together today. I did get the new framerail in and now I'm going to start boxing in the rest of the old [ channel frame. Will hopefully finish it up tomorrow unless its raining.

Thanks. Let's hope he doesn't discover ultralight aircraft or anything like that.

As it happens, this coming weekend's project is downright boring -- I'm putting together a new shop clock.

I guess I'll add to the thread.
Now that the exterior of my new shop is pretty much complete, I decided to re-shingle the old garage. Spent part of a day stripping the old shingles off and adding some OSB sheathing, then spent today putting on the new shingles. Still have to paint the fascia boards and put some rain gutters back on, but at least the roof won't leak any more!

Shingles were probably 40 years old...

One thing I discovered is how much difference there is between a 4:12 pitch roof and a 6:12. I didn't mind working on the roof of the new shop but was quite nervous up on the old one. Good thing it only has 7' walls...not much of a drop if you fall off! :lol_hitti

Started to empty the utility room ready to build a downstairs toilet in there, went through all the hoarded cans of paint with 1/2" in the bottom and tossed a load, in the afternoon took a drive over to my oldest sisters with a load of kids stuff (two car seats mostly) as she's a foster parent and wears this stuff out, my boys have grown out of them so she can have em as they were just cluttering the house up. That took care of the afternoon. Sunday had a laying out session with some chalk and rulers on the tile floor in the utility room to make sure we can fit everything in that we need to and then crashed out in front of the Singapore Grand Prix with a nice brunch, afterwards refitted the two batteries to my Trooper that the kids thoughtfully falttened for me by leaving the internal light on and did a bit of tidying in the garage.
