Whatsa Joule?

Can anyone explain what a Joule is? And not the kind your wife wants and you can't afford. Looking at electric fence chargers they are rated in Joules, from around 2 up to 12 seems to be common. I know watts and volts but joules is new to me.

Sorry, i knew it was a joke. I was just trying to be helpful. Pronunciation is always difficult to figure out on the internet. I was trying to help the OP.
